Spring? Dont you think it would be a mistake doing too many of these things? I think so. There's not a lot of HP boating people in the area, it's not like cars... I would do it once per year, any more and I think you'll get minimal interest and people wont return.

I would say if you ate going to do it once per year doing it in the spring would be better. Next time around we should get other vendors such as Defender, West Marine, get a boat insurance company, maybe a loan broker etc. The more vendors and what not the bigger the draw. Just my .02

agreed 100%. a boat swap meet is nothing like a car swap meet. the demographic is a lot smaller. we would be shooting ourselves in the foot if we were to have this thing twice a year. a one time occurence in spring is my vote (usually people are uncovering and discovering parts/items they will need during this time in preparation for summer)...

Or the counter agruement, looking for parts in the fall for winter projects/builds.

But again, I think 2x/year is too much.

Personally, I'd leave it at once per year and do it late Sept/early Oct. Nice enough out that the weather is still decent, people still have the bug, and perfect for preping for winter projects.

I disagree completely. In fact it is just like any other swap meet, automotive or otherwise. Yes, you are playing to a much smaller audience but even more reason to have the meet 2x a year. Yes, people need parts in the Spring and they also need them in the Fall.

I'm just offering my opinion as a potential buying customer, I don't have anything to sell. My observation in that regard is that a 2x a year swap meet ends up being more successful. I think that if you ask Chris at OP he could give a good indicator of whether this would be true based on his business experience. Actually, he may be your best source for advice.

Again, it's your Club, I'm not a member but just offering my observation as a customer.

Regards,
Rich

One thing I'd like to add, if I miss the Spring meet for whatever reason I can plan on the Fall meet if there are 2 a year. If I miss the Spring meet and there is no meet till the next Spring, one year later, I will definitely obtain the parts that I am looking for elsewhere since I wouldn't want to wait another year to get them.
