Default Longisland poker run

The "LONG ISLAND STAMPEDE" poker run is on!!!!!!!!!!!

The committee of the "Long Island Powerboat Club" consists of: Bill Carroll, Chris Ryder, Joe Cibellis, Bill Betz, Joe Sgro and Jeff Cropper, along with the assistance and co-production of Billy Frenz and the National Power Boat Association.

This committee has set out to return a world quality Poker Run event back to the south shore of Long Island.

Poker Run date: Sat, May 17th, 2014
Rain date: Sun, May 18th, 2014

The "Stampede" headquarters will be Bracco's of Freeport.
We will hold a Friday night pre-event party displaying some of the boats and event sponsors.

The Poker Run Route:
1st Card, 12:00 noon Leaving Bracco's in a Parade fashion to the milling area at the Jones Beach Coast Guard station.

The 2nd card pick up will be inside of the Rockaway inlet. This is a 10 mile ocean run.

The 3rd card pick up will be at Kismet, Fire Island. This is a 26 mile ocean run.

The 4th Card stop will be in Bayshore at Nicky's On The Bay. (Not confirmed at this time. If Nicky's is not available a boat will provide the card pick up.) This is a 5 mile run straight across the bay.

The 5th and final card pick up will be back at Bracco's of Freeport. The return trip will be from Nicky's back to the Fire Island Inlet, ocean run to the Jones inlet, then run in the bay back to Bracco's.

There will be 2 classes to ensure fun and safety for all entrants.

Class 1: Boats 28 feet or larger. Class 1 boats must take the above ocean route.

Class 2: 27 feet and smaller. Class 2 boats have the option of the secondary bay side run.

Both classes will utilize the same card pick up locations and the distance using either route is similar. ALL BAY SIDE BOAT MUST FOLLOW ALL LAWS OF THE BAY including but not limited to speed and no wake zones.

Hello Everyone,
I'm writing to give everyone a status update on the poker run. From the first day that we informed the public that we were planning a poker run, we continuously asked for people to register as soon as they can to help us with the ordering of all the needed items, headcount for food, and to inform all the authorities of the amount of boats that will be attending. At the beginning of the planning we had verbal commitments from MANY boats, But as of today we have only 10 boats actually registered!!!!!!!!!!
Also we are hearing rumors of some people who do not intend to register at all but yet think they will just come to the event. ALL DOCKING AT BRACCOS IS RESERVED FOR THIS EVENT !!!!!!!! Also the local authorities are aware that any boat that does not have the event sticker displayed on their boat has not registered. The police and Coast Guard are accepting of this event because we have provided event insurance and will be organized. NON REGISTERED boats will have a serious chance of being stopped and will have ZERO lenience from the authorities.
Many poker run events are run as a business and the organizer profits from the event. This event is being run at a ZERO PROFIT to the committee. we have vowed to use all money for registration and sponsorship to pay for all necessary costs to run this event ( insurance, permits, helicopter, shirts, giveaways, dock hands,...) . ALL REMAINING MONEY will be given out as prizes. After the lack of registration and rumors of party crashers the committee is becoming discouraged and quite frankly offended with the lack of support. We are committed to this event in time and money with all of our fellow boaters best interest in mind.
PRE REGISTRATION IN NEEDED ASAP
