No, We just went a lot last year. I'm kinda spent on the mv thing. $8 beer, $14 mixers. Everything is a fuchin and my butt is just starting to recover from last season.
Well see though......

I'm not familiar with the area, do you know the name of the street for the public ramp down the road?
Are you allowed to park over night?
How's the parking?
Thanks

scarab63 04-04-2014 05:33 PM

Look at city of newbedford website. They just rebuilt one. Not so sure your car would be 100% secure overnight. There's also a ramp on the other side of the harbor in fairhaven next to the seaport inn. That's a town ramp also.
Both are relatively cheap launch fees. Fairhaven ramp can get tight with ****y parking especially for longer rigs.
Another option would be Taylor point marina out of bourne. It's also town owned but will make your trip considerably longer if you launch there (+/- 30 mins) the facility is nice and your rig will be safe. From there you'd follow hog island channel which is always rough, go thru woods hole which is very confusing on your first pass thru because the channel splits with a ledge middle ground. Take the preferred channel thru there, or better yet just follow another boat thru there! It's a zoo on the weekends

If you had gone racing you can drink your own beer in the pits. Just sayin

Sick Stinger 04-05-2014 10:16 AM

Other option I had is leaving out of Westport point. The trip is about 10/15 minutes longer but over all time is about 30/40 minutes at a light cruise 55 or so. Start pushing it and get there a bit faster.

Ha. This is true although I think the costs of racing makes mv trips look like chump change.
I'm gonna get my azz to at least two races this year. Hopefully more if $ allows. ...... After all, I'm ****ing loaded!!! I've got hundreds of dollars in my bank account.

Better lock your cooler in the pits n****! ;)

If you show up bro you can have as much of my beer as you want.......I usually don't buy it.:-) The crew does

Sick Stinger 04-07-2014 05:38 AM

Any dates work better for more then less? Trying to gauge best time to go.
Thanks

BONDO10 04-07-2014 06:39 AM

I go over 6-8 times a season, for the last 6 years.Never had a problem with noise cops.Twin 525's,no mufflers. But as some have said, economy is getting better for them, and they may start to "pick" on boats they don't want there.
Just an FYI ,all the slips against the bulkhead are free, and first come first serve, before Memorial day,and after Labor Day. We always do an early run and grab a slip. If you go over peak season, leave EARLY! If the weathers good, the town moorings fill up fast. I'll keep an eye on the thread, and shot over. Jeff

I have July and most of August booked, which means since most of the things I have booked are popular boating related events, some others might as well also.

I would suggest the weekend of June 14 or June 21 would be good target days for the Oaks Bluff trip.

Also, to avoid the hassle of the ramps, is there a marina in the same area of the proposed ramps that would offer a travel lift? I might be more inclined to just use someone's travel lift so I don't have to worry about the hassle and security of an out of town public ramp.

scarab63 04-08-2014 08:55 AM

Scott,
I really think the safest ramp will be Taylor point in bourne.
Go to the town of bourne website and take a peek. It's a marina also.
There's not a lot of places with travel lifts that would be convenient. If You Wanted To Go that route I'd look into zeco in Wareham.

SS930 04-09-2014 07:28 AM

Thanks Mike, I'll look into that as we get closer.

Sick Stinger 04-09-2014 02:34 PM

I'm good for mid June tentetive of boat completion. Any one else have an opinion

Unlimited jd 04-15-2014 06:12 PM

For this trip I'd say hoppy's on goulart memorial dr or pease st ramp in fairhaven.

pinball 04-15-2014 06:17 PM

not from plymouth area.

Sick Stinger 04-15-2014 08:24 PM

Mike d would know from plym where to drop he's pretty familiar with that area

scarab63 04-16-2014 04:19 AM

Plymouth would be about a 20 min run S to the canal. Then 45 mins off plane to cross thru the canal :eekdrop:
Then past mass maritime, Taylor point and into buzzards bay.

242LS 04-16-2014 05:17 AM

I've used a ramp in Bourne that was great. Come out near Mass Maritime.

I keep the boat on a lift at Stonebridge Marina in Onset. 15 minutes and I'm at the south end of the canal.45 minutes to an hour, and at OB harbor. As a few have said,Taylor Point is a great facility, just make sure you stay in the channel coming out towards the canal. It zig zags quite a bit,and there is zero water in front of Mass Maritime at low tide.

Chris are you baiting me to say "Taylor point" for the 15th time? ;)
That ramp near mass maritime is Taylor point! :) There.....

boatowner 04-18-2014 12:35 PM

Let me know when you guys are going. I will be coming from RI and will meet you either there or along the way.

242LS 04-19-2014 12:34 PM

Thanks for schooling me - never knew the name!

Sick Stinger 04-19-2014 02:32 PM

What part of RI I boat out of Taunton River Mt.Hope bay. I run to the kicki often and goffs

242LS 06-12-2014 09:22 PM

Mike - when are you going to the Vineyard?

I'm heading over this Sunday. Dropping in at TAYLOR POINT! It's supposed to be beautiful out.

Anyone interested?

Sick Stinger 06-12-2014 09:41 PM

Still a week at minimum out, check the apache section for progress

WildThing47 06-18-2014 11:39 AM

I thought they'd refuse to dock or fuel any boats violating the db laws....always was every time I tried to go there.

Well, we all got in.... but 2 of 5 boats were told not to return. No db test, but a new sign about $100 fine for over 88 db.

On a positive note - A good sign that the economy is picking up!

SS930 06-18-2014 03:01 PM

I'd like to do this trip, but I'd be pretty pissed if I towed the 46' boat all the way up there and then ran out to the island only to be told to turn around. I'm starting to think I would want to scope this all out in person before taking the boat all the way up there.

boatowner 06-23-2014 11:52 AM

any dates on a trip? please post the information would love to go for a weekend or even a day trip

Sick Stinger 06-23-2014 01:48 PM

Going to take the boat out today and see if all good. It was tentitive for next weekend but pretty sure it will be hard pressed for that to happen
