Martha's Vineyard trip
Just seeing who would be interested in a trip over. Looking to stay the night on the bill head or raft up on a mooring. Not postings on dates or any if that but most likely leave from earls down the hatch. Getting input from all those interested can and will help determin a date time ect
Thanks Mike |
How far is it from the point to point Mike? Always wanted to do that trip. I would trailer up and put in near you.
25 miles +- a couple unles you go around the isnds it's about 40
Been there one but never by boat.
Time we change that now.
How do you plan on getting around the noise laws in oak bluffs? Genes bullet with 502 mags is technically too loud has to go in with only one engine running.
Ill go first and make sure they put their gun right up close to my pipes haha
Lol
hey what up guys is there a hotel my boat is going to be a problem sleeping on?
Gene |
Maybe that guy in the white house would like to go. Give him a call Mike..:lolhit:
Dry pipe sutphen a go in all the time alrwady talked to Shawn Harrington about it.
Plenty if hotels and places to stay plus you can buy a weekend bus pas for 5 bucks.
Ok, guys I talked to today all shut down 1 motor and still have issues some days.

I have a mooring here in Lagoon pond that can raft up to 10 boats if wanted. Its the next town out side Oak Bluffs. From what i was told its a private mooring field and only private moorings are located here. There isn't any transit here so a raft would be needed. I believe i using this also for illuminations on the 22 Aug this year for the Sat night Sun.

Sounds cool, depending on when you get for a date I'd be interested. I usually go for the shark tournament but that's happening in Newport this year.
Mike - I'm in (if Jamie's any good with a wrench). :angry-smiley-038:

Gene http://www.wesleyhotel.com I've stayed there before (with my Formula in a slip across the street). Rooms are ok, but front porch rocking chairs are great. When I was there, I was surprised the front desk had a cooler full of free, ice cold Heinekins. Found out the next day it was for the wedding party..... :evilb: |
Chris what do you need? we will get that boat going what ever it takes.
The date is TBA as id like input from all just throwing out options to help. Im going either way weather is just on a whim or planned and getting a group together for a nice run over. Block Island trips will be had also I will be working on those in the up coming weeks as I start getting the boat together and judging the completion. |
I'm all set thanks Mike - It's going on the DYNO very soon! I'm planning on the sea trial out of Fairhaven on 4/26 or 4/27.
Noise is absolutely an issue. I have been in the slip, tied off, and engines shut down and told to leave. I'm like how does that make any sense at this point? Will it be any louder now than tomorrow?

I've been over with the Cafe 4 or 5 times without issue. Two summers ago in one of the Earl's Doomsday runs, it was very loud with about 10+ boats - no issue. But, I'd have to say, your boat is in a different league than mine - both in HP and decibels. I was at the ramp when you fired them up for the 2011 Borden Light Run. Wow. I loved it. |

We shall now refer to it as the torque measuring, horsepower calculating device ;) |
I'm just sayin' you never know with those clowns over there. One time it's ok one time it's not. I think in the last few years since the economy has been trash and every slip in every marina on Cape Cod and the Islands is NOT full to capacity it has been easier. BTW the comment I made above was not with my 39' Sutphen, but my 30', which had 2 500 hp engines. Not nearly as loud as my present boat.

How is Nantucket as a backup destination ? It would be great to get a big group to go over but would hate for people to make plans tow a distance spend fuel $$$ going over to just get sent away
Nantucket Boat Basin even has a big sign "No Excessively Loud Exhaust", but they did let me in. Probably the same economy thing.
The town dock is good transient dockage, BUT has a 30' limit. Town moorings are an option, but you need reservations pretty far in advance. Very expensive place, but I love it there. |
"Kash is King" rules all. As I said I do have the mooring option as a back up plan if it is a consolation to the group.

Thanks Shaun! Trying to stay positive and think lol
"Off season" Nantucket is welcoming to performance boats, but in the height of summer, I don't think they'll be to friendly. I love Oak Bluffs, personally. We've gone in as a group from the Earle's runs and had no issues. I guess it depends on who's in charge that day...

$.02
No way in holy hell will 6+ thru hull exhaust boats get in there. I'd say forget o.b. keep on going and hit e town. Right outside the etown harbor entrance by the light house there is good calm waters where the big azz sailboats anchor. I'd suggest dropping hook there with a giant anchor which anyone can borrow from me if needed.(30 lb Danforth) Raft up and make that your spot. Will Def need a raft to get inshore which mike your welcome to. I've got a hard bottom which probably won't do so hot as far as using space on the boat. But also have a slat floor dink that rolls up good and would be pretty mint . Ps etown a Lil more upity than o.b. but I fit in just fine with my tight salmon colored nad hugger shorts and 100$ vineyard vines T !!!;) Psps......You'd get laughed out of Nantucket |
Karen and I are in! Where and when?
I would be interested too. Of course pending Jamie as well :). What about block island?
Block island will be as often as possible. I hope to be running the boat by end of April. If any one needs help going//getting running let me know like to have a great group running this year. Only logged 8 hours in 3 years hope to do much more this year
I need a boat. LOL
Yes you do let's get on that shall wee
I always wanted to do that trip, I'm interested. Is there a good boat ramp near earls?
If I don't go, which I probably wont.
I'd recommend going thru quicks hole for anyone who has never passed thru. Bring em down off plane and look for the island deer and wild cow / bulls. They are big as fuch and pretty cool to see just creeping around. The islands have very small trees but you still need to look for em because they blend in so well. |
