Witness to the false accusation
I happen to be on one of the two "flag boats" on Saturday and Sunday and the other is a very close friend of mine. Neither of them would ever blow a no wake zone let alone in his back yard. Maybe the cop saw the boats take off after the bridge which is the end of the no wake zone. This to me is the only rational answer.

It seems that this is going to turn into a " he said she said" issue. At this point there is a lot of boat colors ,numbers ,brand names ,ect , being thrown out as the bad guys... and without video, its next to impossible to pinpoint the culprit. I would say theres no doubt that a few boats ran through the NWZ somewhere along the way and that is bad. But before this turns into a huge problem with verbal assults, and accusations, we should just bring this problem to light and focus on correcting it for the future boat fun runs. I know there was some question as to whether or not the "normal rules and regulations" were in effect this late in the season and I thought the questions were clearly answered, but a lot of out of state boaters aren't familiar with the CT. rules and regulations. So, IMO, from this point on, we should look forward to next years event and making sure this doesn't happen again by reminding EVERYONE involved how important the no wake zone rules really are.. This boat run is way too fun an event to start any negative overtones around the two biggest boating sites (OSO and S+F) on the east coast. This run seems to be growing rapidly, and Id like to keep it that way! Thats my worthless .02
Definitely agree it's time to start looking forward and it will start with better information and mapping about "problem areas" that need a little more attention. |
Agreed. How about next year we hope for a couple extra degrees and smoother water. I know everyone looks forward to the event.
I'm from a marina a little further up than harbor park and we have loved this event since It started. With every crowd there's a couple crabby apples. Thanks for another great experience and hope to see all of you guys plus more next year! |

"""" So i just got a call from a cop buddy of mine that was sitting in Harbor Park parking lot bull****ting with a Conversation Officer. He said they both watched two boats racing through the bridges right past Harbor Park. One boats name was "Not Satisified" and the other was a boat with a red white and blue flag on it. Another boat they say was some orange boat with a number 39 on it blasting through the nwz in front of all the portland marinas. The comment from the Conservation officer to my cop buddy was "that wont happen again next year". Take it for what its worth guys... but its your day to lose. """" Doesn't sound credible to us . |

Some people just don't know when to keep their mouth shut.
as mentioned above everyone should focus on future runs however in my opinion there will still be a few stray offenders who think they are above the no wake zones. thats just life. |
This is a lot of back and forth over a few ripples..... Most cruisers throw a bigger wake just off idle. Must be another one of those things, "it's for the children" like the assault weapon ban and high capacity magazines.
