Smokin' Gun , how many people for pizza ?

masi242 09-18-2014 07:09 PM

This was a great run last year, and very we'll organized, hope to make it this year.

SS930 09-24-2014 10:30 AM

As Gordon stated above, there were lots of offshore boats last year (probably the most I recall seeing at this event). This run use to be almost all smaller OB boats, but there's a good cross section of all types of fast boats. There's probably enough water to beach the bigger boats, but most were anchored or rafted up and they were nice enough to bring the pizza out to us.

BTW Rich, I'll have 6 on my boat. Thanks!

kreed 09-24-2014 12:48 PM

We all look forward to this run every year. Always a good turn out and a great way to end the boating season. We'll be there for sure but I never know who coming with me til that morning!

WildThing47 10-01-2014 11:49 AM

I'm planning on making this run this year, looks fun.

302Sport 10-05-2014 11:22 AM

I plan on being in the area also but don't think I'll make it all the way up. Most likely tie up at Harbor Park and watch football, then head back down the river.

Webbsatwinni 10-06-2014 10:11 AM

We went last year, great way to close out the season, we will be there again!

Dpad 10-13-2014 01:39 PM

anyone leaving from the ct side and where we are trying to get our boat finished up by guys at Rage for this last run of the year we are down in Stamford

302Sport 10-13-2014 02:10 PM

Can we nail down a time to leave from Saybrook???? Here is the S&F thread, looks like 9-930 is the approximate time to leave.... http://www.screamandfly.com/showthre...un-2014/page11

SS930 10-13-2014 02:23 PM

Historically there have been many small groups running up the river together. People launch from all over the place, plus there's also all different types of boats that attend so it's kind of hard to run together in one big pack.

We usually stop and gather a decent group of offshores together around Harbor Park (Canoe Club) and run the last 10 miles up to Pizza Beach as a group. Once there I'm sure most of us will be rafting up together.

It's private property and gated.

302Sport 10-13-2014 06:13 PM

fatherb68 10-13-2014 10:11 PM

If you leave around 9:30-10:00 or so you should be in the mix. There will be a decent flow of boats all morning, you'll probably notice more as you head north since a lot of the smaller boats will be splashing further up the river.

kreed 10-14-2014 07:36 AM

If you want to run with people, I would leave OS about 9....9:30 the latest

Unless of course your driving some jet engine powered boat!!!!

Gladhe8er 10-14-2014 08:50 AM

I am planning on running. Hoping to have the new Rage on the water, but we haven't been "handed the keys" yet so not sure if we want the first run to be with tons of other boats. If not, I'm planning on bringing the Thunder.

WildThing47 10-14-2014 02:15 PM

What no wake zones are exactly shut down. I am referring to after essex, I'm assuming the launch up the river will be no wake, and the bridge obviously (goodspeed). Is it clear after that?

Also, anyone up that way, is the river mostly clear of $hit, I'd like to keep the artillery free of depth charges......

I plan to wake the dead about 10am in Saybrook if anyone else is launching at that time...

River is usually clear of debris unless there is a storm/heavy rain. Watching Wednesday into Thursday as its supposed to be a good rain. They have postponed the run in years past due to too much rain. One year it brought the waters up so much that the beach everyone parks on disappeared.

v21 10-14-2014 06:56 PM

All the no wake zones north of Haddam are still in effect . All the marinas and launches are still operating .
Don't know much about the river south of Haddam .
Expect some enforcement .
The river is clear right now but that will change depending on how much rain we get Thurs .
Please give a wide berth to all the pleasure craft especially the kayaks and canoes .

kreed 10-15-2014 06:28 AM

All no wake zones are still in effect Pat as dry dock boats are still being pulled in from the marinas. The river is pretty low right now, so the rain Wednesday shouldn't raise the levels too much.

WildThing47 10-15-2014 07:22 AM

I heard someone say they weren't in effect, I'm sure there will be enforcement. It's still nice out, doesn't surprise me. Sounds good. Thanks

242LS 10-15-2014 01:21 PM

V21 - please put me down for 2 pizzas. Thanks.

smokin' gun 10-15-2014 01:26 PM
