Ok guys..... I was the one who found the boat and a very close personal friend of owner. Putting more incorrect info out here is not what is needed. It is a like new 30 Outlaw. It did not have any damage beyond one prop bent up some and they are going to check the prop shaft for any bend or tweek (it might be). Everything else on the boat appears perfect. Nothing stolen. It seems a low life wanted a means of transportation from one side of the lake to the other. It was parked at a very nice restaurant (my boat was parked in front of his, but I left before him) and this would never be thought of happening here. We will all be more careful in the future I am sure. So lets not make this into a what happened or what should be done etc.... If and when we find who did it, we will handle it in our way. I am just glad the boat was found and without any major damage that can't be fixed very quickly and nothing cosmetic.

Boat was park at the dock to hit the local ON THE LAKE restaurant / bar. Some hours later - midnite boat was gone as they left Resturant / Bar - so they called some people who might be around and open at other marinas on the lake. Someone said they seen it on the water not long ago.

So they called another boater who was still on the lake to go check the other end of the lake. It was on the other end of the lake tied up in a low lake level area. Nothing stolen at all - but I heard the prop completely damage and the lower unit damaged along with other damage here and there. They had to hit the concrete in the low lake level area trying to dock it to get off the boat. Also when they stole the boat they DO NOT bring in the fenders nor the docklines because some of the docklines were wrapped around the prop and fender marks on the hull. IMO Joy ride and these people who took the boat needed a way to there destination, hence taken the Baja at the dock for their ride.

I hear you about the keys in the boat deal. Yes not a good idea as I believe this is what happened to. BUT its like anything remember the days you never had to lock anything up including your home ? If it is not yours you do not touch it still should apply, but does not.

I always take my keys, lanyard and stereo face plate plus either pull my coil wire(s) or pull power fuse(s), if I can not keep an eye on my boat very closely by.
Please be careful about posting info as some of this is not exactly correct.

I will say this about boat keys. A lot of boat keys for an ignition use a key that is stamped PK???? on them. One example PK611M. I have all the master set copies that will work for most ignitions. Not to hard to use your own boat key to start someone else boat if you wanted to try boat to boat to see which one will work. I can grab 20 PK stamped keys and bet I could start at least 4 boats sitting at the marina within 30 minutes. Just saying.

Bring a hand full my PK keys and different lanyards is all it takes to start up boats at random. Very easy to do and very cheap.

Now why do I have master set copies of boat keys because some boat owners who bring there boats in for service forget or lost their keys. Easy enough for me to make them a copy and or run their boat without their keys and use my master copy.

I agree. Thank god the boat was recovered with no major damage other than the prop shaft and prop. Just a sad day for all who like to think that this does not happen.
Next time they need a ride across the lake it would be a lot nicer to ask for one.
