Who's on Winnipesaukee?

Anybody on Winni, while there are sill regulations, we are actively trying to bring performance back to the lake? Lets go fill up the docks and take them back from the pontoons!

Would like to come down and do a weekend on Winni possibly late into June, or late August depending on our schedule.. I've heard it's an awesome time, just be cautious when not in the Broads..

And you better have mufflers! Probably tell Ryan to leave his home too! :)

They don't get to fussy unless you are being and ass, great place to boat without salt.

donzi matt 05-19-2016 09:00 PM

Yeah, you are more likely to get bothered for no mufflers than speed. I don't honestly know if my boat passes the noise test with the mufflers in or not, but I have passed several marine patrol boats and nobody has bothered me. I think just having something to quiet them down is enough to keep them happy. Now with no mufflers, I would be pinched near instantly. Make an effort to maintain the 150 foot rule and don't blatantly break the speed limit in congested areas and you will be just fine.

hey Matt
If i use my silent choice around the docks and open them up when underway is that usually ok? I am running a single 500 I'm only there midweek.

donzi matt 05-19-2016 09:29 PM

Midweek you may get away with it, but I wouldn't bet on it. My brother in law had a 29 with a 500 EFI, he got pegged pretty quick. Better off to buy some cheap slip-in mufflers for the time you are there. I run the GGB's and they seem to be enough.

....

donzi matt 05-19-2016 09:31 PM

They changed the law. Silent choice is legal, as long as the boat passes in the open position.

Great, but wished they did this long time ago. Very frustrating and expensive for many of us.

donzi matt 05-19-2016 09:34 PM

They also test at an idle right now, instead of making you spend a Sunday morning at Timber Island for a fly by test.

SB 05-19-2016 09:37 PM

Once we where bein forced to do a fly by at Meredith docks on a Sunday..within 150ft of the docks..well, uh....I'll have to tell you the story when we run into each other. Fking brutal situation.

Things are better now ! As has been stated.

Use some sort of mufflers, don't drive like an azzwipe when congested, and you'll typically be fine.

neva satisfied 05-20-2016 05:01 AM

As long as you mind your own business and don't try to draw any extra attention to yourself you will be fine. I don't run any mufflers and I go down there many times through out the summer. The MP just wave and pass by. If you have a boat full of people screaming and carrying on as your pulling up or out of the Naswa...Your going to get tagged.

I just bought a top gun that was a winny regular (probably the last one). Was told that their's a poker run weekend when performance boats are welcome back with no noise restriction. Anyone else here of this? Id like to go. Also I have a set of large mufflers and turn downs if someone is interested, still have receipts. Funny side note, the paper work with the boat had a pile of noise violations...... and passes?

donzi matt 05-30-2016 07:57 PM

I think I may know the boat. Blue dash and black gauges if I'm not mistaken with blower motors in it. I talked to the guy for about an hour last summer and he was pissed about all the trouble he got over noise. He said then he was going to sell it over the hassle. I saw it last fall on boat trader.

See you guys at the lake, dropping in tomorrow.

Mtb_05 06-18-2016 03:12 PM

I run on winni almost every weekend. I run a 525HP and haven't had any issues with noise. Would def be interested in getting some info if there is a poker run happening.

outlw36 06-18-2016 05:52 PM

Was at the lake today and it was perfect weather. Nice to see all the activity with the bikers.

Next Saturday is the Donzi poker run, all boats are welcome. It is put on by the Lake Winnipesaukee Donzi Club. They have a page on Facebook with information about the run.
