Jack,
The idea of team leaders or organizers from different states ,sounds like it should work. And i would fully support either Dyno,Crazyhorse or Donna ,if any of them should want to assume the responsibility for Mi. :)

I usually run out of St. Joe,and can think of approximately 20 other performance boats that run out of that harbor on a routine basis. However ,only 2 besides myself are members of OSO.The rest are either too busy for the interent,or just aren't into computers.

So you may also need at least 2 people from each surronding port to help get the word out.Maybe in the form of leaflets or.......

The interest is there, but the communication is the *****

Steve, are you trying to get off easy, I think we need help in both upper and lower MI, You could be the captain in the lower quadrant:D :D :D
I was thinking we should have a flyer for some of the runs, and post a calendar on the back. How do you think we could distribute them, are there places to post them, if we had a flyer could you pass any out.

By the way do you know when Venetian night in St Joe is this year.

I think I could be the captain in Lake St Clair::D :D :D

Donna,
You have my vote for the Mi. Capt......Hell,I wouldn't even qualify for swabby:)
The dates for the Venetian Festival are July 15-18.

Of the 6-7 marinas in St. Joe,I believe most have bulletin boards that would allow the posting of flyers.

Also the DNR launch in St. Joe has a bulletin board. If it's the same guy working it this summer,I'm sure he would allow me to post any flyers.....

Jack......... two parties are great, but, would'nt you think that havin them maybe at Hammond would be more like half way for both sides to attend??? ( wisc, ill )(mich, ind). Meet in the middle???

Ms PatriYacht 01-30-2004 05:03 AM

My vote, and we drive right past Hammond is to have one big party at Diversey. I would love a weekend in Chicago, Hammond is a great marina but it has absolutely no appeal as an overnight point, plus for us I don't think it is that much further to go to Chicago. Over the last two years I have been traveling to Chicago for trade shows and have gotten great hotel deals in the MI Ave area, through Priceline.com. I've paid between 50 & 60 a night & stayed at the Hyatt, Westin, and W. Priceline was not available for Hammond hotels so we wound of paying more when we came for the Pirates Ball.
The people that drive home after the party might feel differently, but I hate the thought of fragmenting the group. You know how it goes you can never please all of the people all of the time but Jack you are pleasing MOST of the people, all of the time:D :D :D

Donna,
You forgot about us POF's (poor old firefighter's):D

Steve, does Maria know you are a POF??  :D :D

The drive up to Diversey isn't bad for me. But, a spring meeting in MI wouldn't be bad either. Too bad Skip's Other Place, in New Buffallo, doesn't have a meeting room. At least I don't think they do.

I vote for Donna for Capt. of Michigan I'd love to help when I can but I have a two year old at home and time with her is a priority, so let me know what I can help with and I'll do my best!

I second Dan's suggestion about Venetian night at North Point. We had a great time that weekend and as said before Steve did a great job organizing it. It was setup to meet Friday night, run to Milw Saturday, return to North Point Saturday night, party at the harbor during the Venetian activities. He got us great slip rates as well.

I called the marina and the date for 2004's night is Aug 14th.
