With those new 1471's and larger chillers it is a good thing the engine hatches are tall. They almost look out of proportion by making the blocks look small. |

EC39, your new engines are really impressive, even in the assembly room! (I keep suggesting to Barb that we should see if you'd part with the old ones,,,,,,,,I don't think she's feeling the same way though,,,,,,,,something about new couches and carpet.) CH

Re: Let's see Pics of your OE
Made the call to Sterling Performance to see if I keep the boat or move on to something else. If the price is OK, then I will have a set of back up motors. I am so mad that I am not at LEOPA right now. I would truly love to post how I really feel but it will only make a mess of things. .................................................. ..
|
Re: Let's see Pics of your OE
Don't feel bad I missed LEOPA as well. I am spending the weekend visitng St Louis and Kanasas City. Having a great time.
Buying another boat is not going to resolve your problems. You will simply inherit somebody else's problems. Your problems are purely mechanical. You have a great boat. You need a good mechanic. Take your time over the winter and get it done right. The quick fixes are just costing more $$$ and aggravation.. The only problems I had were casued by two transmissions that I did not rebuild (somebody told me they were freshly rebuilt) and some braided lines that were assembled by some idiot in Wisconisn. Other than that everything was great. Having competent people work on your stuff is the only way to go. Letting them tell you they are competent does not mean squat. |
Re: Let's see Pics of your OE
I am looking at a new 36 Nortech Cat with Ilmor with #6s or Arneson Drives. The boat should run 120mph bone stock.
|
Re: Let's see Pics of your OE
Mark, can put the Ilmors in and have you ready to go before Key West or I'll put the 1150 sterlings in for you, but the Nortech 1150's I'll back with full warranty and will be faster than sterlings. I'll take your boat in on trade. What else can I do to put you in the supercat. once I take you for a ride at the shootout your sold. Jim

Re: Let's see Pics of your OE
Dennis go to Tom Huber and get the 1550 deep sumps with thermostats. The price for the upgrade is so little that it is worth going all of the way.

Re: Let's see Pics of your OE
I had lunch with Dave yesterday and he was just pulling the first engine off the dyno. Very impressive numbers. Congratulations!
Are you coming up anytime soon? Dave R |
Re: Let's see Pics of your OE
No plans to come up. I rather leave Dave alone so he can get them done and I can go boating.
|
Re: Let's see Pics of your OE
He keeps a pretty good pace whether you're here or not but the next time you're in town lunch is on me. Just don't pick a day I'm having surgery. Next one is Aug 18 so come the following week.

Re: Let's see Pics of your OE
I was just wondering how wide are the tunnels on your 39's?
Are they all the same width or did they vary somewhat as they prgressed. And what if any are the different design changes form older ones to the last year they where made? Ive noticed the different style hatches and the direction that they open but thats about it. Thanks AL |
Re: Let's see Pics of your OE
The tunnel on the 39's are 50''.
|
Re: Let's see Pics of your OE
Yo guys whats upo I have been busy for a while. I had the boat to 103 on the 830 hp motors at 1000 islands poker run which was awesome. I'll see if I can muster up some picks 4 u guys. Plus we are going on a poker run this saturday if any of you are intrested in it be at Mac Rays at 8:30 am wed.
Hunna |
Re: Let's see Pics of your OE
The width of the tunnel greatly affects the ride of the boat. Skater cuts some their boats in half and makes the boat wider to give the boat a better ride.
My hatches open forward which is my choice. They used to open sideways and found that they were hard to work on the motors. I can remove my motors without removing the hatches. Mark |
Re: Let's see Pics of your OE
Wider tunnel = More Air= Better ride.
What are the effects of the extended tunnel? I also read on a 32 skater they extended not only the width but the" length " of the tunnel just like your 39's. From what you say wider is better so I would imagine that extra length can only add to the effects of a better ride.? If thats the case how come all cats arent extended? Or is it that the extra length in the tunnel add so little to performance gains that its not worth it? Thank you again AL. |
Re: Let's see Pics of your OE
If you look at a MTI, they are extended too. This also acts like a trim tab at high speed to keep your nose level.
The orginal design on the Ocean Express is for a steering rudder. |
Re: Let's see Pics of your OE
it was not for a rudder!
