Default Wide load permits ?

Going to pick up the 39 Ocean Express this Friday. I will be towing from Grand Rapids to Monroe county. How many of you guys use wide load permits, how much trouble are they to get and how much trouble can I get into without 1 ???

It is super cheap for the same state. About $60. Dave has done that tow several times. He has never used a permit.

I have an extended permit for Michigan, it is good for one year at a time. It takes a week or two to get extended permits, so you will probably need to get a single trip permit for moving it this week. If you apply for permits make sure you list the width at 11' 11", at 12' you need an escort vehicle.

They had me pulled over at the Marshall exit on 94 for 1 1/2 hours and gave me an escort to the Holiday Inn with high dollar paperwork. Then again the next morning at the next exit but this cop said "I never saw you" and I made it home without any further issues.
