Alive and kicking....
Some major changes over the past year or so have taken place at the shop, our new 49 fixed shaft is out of the mold, and being rigged as we speak with Tri-Max surface drives, and having a custom rudder built.
Two new possibilities exist with our 38 platform, the hull and deck have been approved by APBA for either Super Cat or Super Cat Light class, and we have one available to look at in the shop right now. 36' sport fishing cat, full cabin, and room to play volleyball on 55+ mph with stock horizon merc and straight shafts , in the water and ready for test rides. Working on a new 25' performance / center console / fishing cat based off of the 36 sporfish bottom design, will be twin or single outboard equipable, and will eventually be offered in a sport deck configuration. Several trade in's available with new graphics, completely gone thru and 95% ready for the water, all they need is an owner. Thats about it for now, will keep checking post each day to answer questions take comments, arrange tours, yada yada yada... Take care all and good boating Adam |
Nice to see you back on the board!:) Are you going to have any boats over at milwaukee this weekend?
|
Hey Adam glad your back........... Talked to your brother , he's sending me stickers for mine it's an '89 twin 250's all redone new paint ,rubrails, flush cleates, tunnel tab, etc, it looks great and works great, it is either a 26 image or a 25 OE not sure. I did most of the work this spring. good luck with everything. Hope to visit you guys again soon :D Bill Jolley
|
Jolley,
Post some pictures of your boat!:) |
Jolley, email me with the VIN number on the back of the boat and i could tell you for sure which mold it came out of, either the early 25 mold or the newer one.
Mika, havent talked to anyone going to milwaukee so no clue if well have anything there or not... We are working on a Factory backed Super Cat Lite team as we speak tho.. more info on that later |
Sylvester the "SPY" said everything looked fantastic at the factory last week. I wanted to visit too but Nagivator and I are re-painting the 39'. Looks like new graphics and fresh power for the old gal . Should splash by spring 04'.Sure would be great to run with Sylvester and Tizbad. You guys build the new ones,,,We will campaign the classics..... Phats

New graphics are always a good thing, send or post some pics when your done, or during the project phat, before and afters are amazing arent they? Sometimes I think that the actual project is as fun as the finished product when your all said and done, especially when you work on it yourself, take care.

Hello. Have not ran into too many OC owners. I have a 39 which has been undergong a serious face lift for the past 1.5 years. Base coats are finished and the graphics are being applied this week.
Engines and ancilliary parts are all powder coated, anodized or polished and ready to be reassembled. Next year will be the first time it has hit the water in 4 years. Do you know of any good pics onthe web site of others? |

Nice pics ;)
We are finishing a triple 48 atm with 540/650hp motors and IMCO advantage drives, first round tests show about 105 with 33 pitch on it, and were trying the 34's. Working on a new center console sportfish as well, 25' long totally new bottom design, center console will have a sit down head inside it. Fininshing the deck plug as we speak, and expect the first one to go to Florida this winter for testing / tweaking. Built in boxes on the back for outboards, this should be a super fast and stable fishing boat. We also have plans on making a sport deck with a new modular interior for it, spring 03'. Keep the posts coming guys, love to see pictures of anything weve built, take care and talk to you soon  |
Adam, post some pix !!! See Ya soon, Bill
|
yeah, i need to dig out my camera and take some pics, but i usually forget... Tizbad and the ohio crew were up today, scoping the new stuff out. Will try and get some pics up soon, take care ;)
|
Damn, I should have come by !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ask Ross jr. if he got the OE. stickers for my boat ? Talk to you soon, Bill
|
I apoligize to all of you for not posting pics. Just finishing up the paint. Powder coating is all done and engines are finally finished as well. Arnesons are being painted and we will start to screw it back together in December. Did a total strip down on this beauty. Estimate 130-135mph. 580CI dry sumps, 1050 hp
|
Ill ask him tommorow bill about the stickers, i think we just got some in, and are looking at redesigning our logo
expresscat, 1050 HP sounds like fun, (too bad they werent going into a new 38' but.....) love to see some pics of it. Anyone see the info on that miami to ny race? 10million bucks... sounds a lil far fetched to me, I hear 25-50k$ for entry fee hmmmm each of the 6 days runs is said to pay out $550k for the winner, with the longest run being 280miles. I guess they start 6 boats every 3 min and then your timed from there. Hmmmm a 49 cat with 4 diesels ought to do the trick nicely, have to run that by pops :p |
Man, that does sound like the way to go 4 Diesels with big turbo's, spinnin' big wheels !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
|
We also have a 39' Express. The boat is called NAS-T and it is a 91. We have also been redoing it for the last year. Everything came out and we have the paint done and the rigging is taking place right now. What kind of power are you guys running and what speeds are you seeing. I believe that most of the Express cats have Arneson drives but if you have different drives what are they. I would love to see all of your pictures of your boats and I will try to get some pictures of our boat as well.

NAS-T I have a 39 with boxes and #4 SSM 850 hp supercharged 18x31 wheels

TizBad, what part of Ohio!
|
expresscat39, I am from Toledo Ohio
|
My residing address is Fort Myers Beach but I also have a house on Catawba. The Express is currently in Port Clinton but actually intended to be a Florida boat. I have a Top Gun here in FL. It will be shipped north this spring and the cat to FL next fall. Unless I decide to sell it.
Pic of the Top gun attached. I will be up north form Dec 9 to the 24th and will post some pics of the cat and hardware then. |
happy holidays all, sorry havent posted in a while, we been working on a couple of new projects at the shop. We are thinking of having an open house sometime in mid January, open to any that might want to come up take a tour, see whats going on and all that good stuff. We will be building a 4 engine 49 foot for a customer of ours who currently has one of our 48 triples. We have the first center console fishing boat, 25' out of the mold and are currently rigging it and getting it ready for Florida, power is going to be a pair of 225 optimax saltwaters, should do well over 100mph. Lots of neat stuff incorporated into the boat, including an all new bottom design. Best of holidays to everyone and anyone interested in coming up sometime in Jan, drop me a line and well make a day out of it. Take care and will post again soon.

|
I would like to attend the Open House too. I am in Algonac quite often. I drove by in the fall and I seen a monster cat being worked on, at the time it was just outside the front door, it looked great! (I did not want to use the term "awesome") :)
Count me in on the open house. (but dont do it the first week in febuary) |
ray did it look like the line drawng i posted above. if so thats a sneak peek of their new 49. the thing is frikn awsome. best lookin boat i have seen in a long time. i know they also finised up one of the 48's this summer but it was one of their old designs. the new one has big power and fixed TriMax drives. i took some pics of it last time i was there but dont think i can post pics just yet. has not been "un-veiled" yet
keep us posted Adam  |
Adam, Do you think Ocean Express will have any kind of regatta or be involved in some kind of poker run(s) where the company can be well represented. I have a 1996-39 and would like to see what others have done to their boats. I am planning my year for mostly Midwest poker runs and end the year in Key West Poker Run.
Mark Smith Chi-Town Hustler:) |
Welcome Mark!!! Hey Dave what's up ? I hope Adam still does the Open House .. I'll be there! See you guys soon.:)

mark- got any pics.i just did a 39 a year or so ago. toughes tpaint job i ever did. deck is almost 12 feet wide an my arm is like 2 feet long :D  had to get real creatve |
update
Hello Mark, we currently dont have any plans for a regatta, even tho we have talked to past customers about one. With as small a crew as we have, most of the time is spent building new boats, or working on projects.
Cool drawing Dave, that looks pretty close to the 49 as it sits. We built the first 49 for twins and im going to shoot the next 49 sometime in february with four motors i mind when we set up the bilge and drive system. As far as the open house goes, we dont have any definite plans yet, it is still in the idea stage. Were workig on finishing the 25 sportfish so that it can go to Florida to be tested and evaluated. More to come, ill keep you posted, have fun and take care all  |
glassdave
I believe it was a 48, It was one of their standard designs. Nothing like the drawing. Still a mean looking boat. |
Getting ready for 2004 boating
Getting a slow start toward working on the boat. I usually pull the motors every winter because it is easier to work on the motors and the boat. I hope this summer we can get as many Ocean Express Cats together so we can meet at a poker run or just get wasted somewhere all weekend. It is kind of nice to see what others have done to there boats. Next winter, I plan on painting the entire boat. Know anyone interested in taking on the task?(let's talk) I am looking for some trim cylinders for my ASD8 drives. If you know someone who may have an old set, let me know. If anyone is going to the Chicago Boat Show, I will most likely be working the Fountian booth. Stop by and say HI!

i have a TON of other art work on the drawing board. got carried away when i did this one and ended up with a bunch of extra concept drawings based on the 39X.
check with Ross or Adam up at Ocean Express i thought they had a bunch of arneson of stuff laying around last time i was there. maybe they can help you out with the rams. good bunch of guys up there. l:cool:  |
Hey Guys. No new grafix yet but soon......... We'll all hook up this year for sure!.... Been playing with My Snowmobiles. CYA Bill:D
|
Hey Dave,
The boat looks incredible! I love to see what kind of ideas you might have and the kind of pricing we might be talking about. I have changed the stringers in the engine compartment so that the motor mounts are mounted to L bracket and not through the sides of the hull. I need ideas for engine hatch cylinder mounts because my boat did not come with any. Adam, If you have any trim cylinders for my drives, let me know please. Every year is a new project. If you do have a open house, I love to go. I have been to the plant many times already during the Skip era, but it has been awhile. |
Ill check and see what we might have in stock for trim cylinders... we mostly set them up with verticle stabilizers on the 39s... too far out of the water and you got vibration and too far in the water scrubbed speed.. so once you test it a few times, we would lock them in at the sweet spot. Ill get back with you if i find something or not tho.
Glassdave and Tiz did an awesome job on refinishing / painting and re-rigging Tizbads 39', i got a chance to finally see it this past summer and it looks great. Now all i have to do, is get you 39 crazy guys up here to take a ride in the new 38s so you can fall in love all over again $$$$ hehe take care and talk to you all soon. |
