Re: Finally done
580 cubes, roller cams, twin dominators, 1071 blowers, o-berg filters, dry sumped, aluminum dart heads, BDS chillers, arneson #8's , Rolla 32 x 17.5's.
Current plan is to splash it Friday morning in the Detroit area, do some final carb adjustments and run it across the lake about 40 miles to Port Clinton, Ohio. |
Re: Finally done
Forgot to mention, almost every piece of metal on this boat has been powder coated including the blocks, heads, intakes, dash panels, drives, scatter shields and everything else that could be unscrewed/bolted in the cabin, cockpit, engine compartment, also including the cleats. The pullies etc are anodized. All the gauges have also been refinished
The trannies, starters and carbs are painted. |
Re: Finally done
That is just AWESOME!

Re: Finally done
I have been watching this project, WOW!!!!! :D , and I can see all the pain staking efforts going into making this a better than new boat. Looks awesome, good luck with her, post some speeds when you get her broken in, Good Luck. Jeff

Re: Finally done
We cruised for 20-25 minutes at 70 mph. Then we started to crank it up slowly but surely watching the GPS at increments of 500 RPM. At just about 5500 the starboard engine's water temp went ballistic and we shut it down. At that point we were trucking at 110.6 according to the GPS tattle tale. WOT @ 6,000 r's we estimate 120 to 125 mph.
The port header on the starboard engine must have a blockage. We removed the header and shipped it to Stellings for inspection. We could still run it at 4,000 rpm but anything above resulted in the temperature building rapidly. The problem was only in the top two tubes. The bottom two were perfectly fine. Hoping for good news today from Randy so we can get it back together and in the water Septermber 17th. |
Re: Finally done
awsome boat E-cat. great #'s too, thats move'n right along. i have been on TizBads OceanX several times at speed. the thing is so big it reminds me of sitting on the roof of my garage . . . but at 100mph :D :D
|
Re: Finally done
Hi Dave. I saw Greg's at the Monroe LEOPA run. I was going to do the fall run but had a bad header. Did you go on that one?
Yea, it is a big party barge. Everybody gets on it thinks it is a 50 footer. :D :D |
Re: Finally done
didnt make it to the fall run. actually i just ran around this end of the lake all weekend with no real agenda. was pretty cool just went hear an there, stayed on the boat from fri-sun. heard the run was great though, little bit to big a run for my lil'ol scorpion :D
ya mean those things arent 50 foot??? speak'n of 50's wonder when Rossi is gonna get the new 49 out. i have some spy pics around here somewhere  |
Re: Finally done
No, mine is a 39, they just look big when you are on them.
Dave @ Wesco has a 50 that he is rigging. I have a pic somewhere. I will try to find it. |
Re: Finally done
holy cow thats right, i forgot they actually made a 48 footer of that boat. thats gotta be like sit'n on the roof of a pole building at 100mph. :D
i was actually wondering about the new 49 foot OceanX that Ross an the crew in Algonac have been working on. it is VERY cool   |

Re: Finally done
You have to find so more pics of that 49 Ocean Express.
You have to get some testing on that boat b/4 FL. Get all of the bugs out. Mark |
Re: Finally done
Braided lines and header are to back tomorrow. Wrenched on around lunch, splashed in the afternoon and rooster tailing in the late pm. :D :D

Re: Finally done

This is what we hit labor day weekend before the header took a dump.
If UPS does it job and all the parts and pieces will be back today, we will be wrenching round lunch and splashing by 3-4 pm. Hopefully we will have the opportuntiy to run and see what kind of final numbers we get. |
Re: Finally done
what hp are you running
|
Re: Finally done
1000,s
|
Re: Finally done
What's the results with the header.
Mark |
Re: Finally done
The header did the trick. Also they finished the canvas. Will post a pic. Have to remove the trany valves and send them back for a little more shaving. It is a little better but he said he can take a little more off.
It will take a few days to determine how the savage lines faired. The GPS speedo is now working but is irrattic. May have to relocate antenna. Still a lot of interior work to do. Hopefully have it finished over the next two weeks. Working on the trailer today to improve the loading capabilities. |

Re: Finally done
That Boat is awsome!!
Can you find me a 39 hull needing??? I promise I wont make it faster then yours :D Seriously I would be intersted in a project Hull. PS. I noticed the rollas are more of a rounded tip design Not like the 5 blade mercs. I am wondering what that actually does? Again Nice Job!! Gerry |
Re: Finally done
Which do you like better the Top Gun or the Cat?
LS JR. |
Re: Finally done
I know he likes both allot. It is just hard to compare a ride in a cat to any V-hull.

Gerry The tips of the Rolla's have been rolled to reduce the whipping action of the prop blade. These were purchased used from TNT who had them custom cut them for a boat they had. They just happened to be the perfect set up for this one. |

LS JR. It takes everybody a while to get used to the ride. A few have even been scared at first. After a while they love it. A boat like this demands a lot of respect and attention during operation. The Cig is always a quality ride. Chi-Town has been in my Cig and has appreciation for both. I will take the cat over the Cig except for docking. |
Re: Finally done
Hey thats not your house.
|
Re: Finally done

Have to use the neighbors wall. There is enough room even with the Cig on the lift but it is very tight. Dave is pretty cool. A ride convinced him to let me use the dock. :D
Thre I am on the right  and there I am with a Cig on the lift. :( |
Re: Finally done
Dave Wesseldyke rules!!!!!
|
Re: Finally done
Dave(s) does(do) rule. Both Daves rule. When I get my boat finished, I am going to smash the A$$hole next's waverunner parked right on the boundry line. He don't make it easy to park.
