I think this is what it might boil down to ......
A rough estimate for the Vegas race $7,000 with the additional travel time on the road and hotel rooms ect....
The Worlds Price tag:
$3,000 entry fee
$1,000 crew registration
$1,500 equipment fees
$3,000 normal costs
Now if you need new Midsections and a set of Long Blocks...which I believe Dan may need after such a bad flip in St Clair, you're looking at what? Another $22,000 ?

As you can see, it adds up quick. And that's not considering the repair bill to do the glasswork.

It's unfortunate, but I think Loan Shark is making the right decision. It just doesn't make sense to spend that kind of money on a boat that will no way come out weighing nearly as close as the front runners. It leaves more of a disadvantage to the team.
Hopefully they find themselves a better hull for next season and will be back out in the hunt for that checkered flag...

Thanks for the math lesson Sharkey.......I know how it adds up. That calculator just works different than mine. The cat outboard class will miss Shark bait at the races. He ran really well all season and really impressed me in Puerto Rico.

That was where their weight was a little bit of an advantage, but that does them no good when the rest of the courses are calm.
With your budget being less than half of the 37K, I take it you wouldn't be replacing your engines for the Worlds.....
So really, there isn't much of a difference between the two budgets if you leave out the equipment...
Once you fine tune and dial in the Skater, you will be at the podium too!
Good Luck!
