Default OSS Honors Veterans

Today is Veteran’s Day. OSS honors the Nation’s and its own veterans in a unique way.

At 12:45, before the start of the first Saturday race, the OSS pace boats perform a “missing man formation.”

This ceremony on the water also honors the tragic loss of Randy Linebach, Forever 24, who died in a tragic accident before OSS’s inaugural race in Biloxi, Mississippi in 2004.

OSS also honors Captain Jeremy Frefques, who served as combat air controller in the USAF. He lost his life in Iraq on May 30th 2005. Capt. Frefques is survived by his wife Lindsey, his father Nick , mother Sherry and brother Justin. His family is working with our local race producer in Destin.

On our paceboats are five veterans:

Frederick Hoole, LT CDR US Navy Ret.
Ed Therezo, Marine and Army Sgt. 1st Class, Ret

Paul Grimmet, Exec Petty Officer, USCG Destin

Mike McReynolds, Tech Sgt USAF Ret

Chris Landry , Corporal Marine Corps
