Gregg,
I'd say that all depends on where you live. The fee to register are similar but if you lived in Florida, then driving to SBI races would be real cheap since most of their races are in Florida... But if you win or place in SBI do they pay prize money? I don't know.

OK so the moral is get those SVL's out of the barn and come race ( more boats = more of a purse) SVL and cat outboard , are by far the most bang for your buck, the level of competition is second to none, and there are competitive boats available .Anyone that thinks they want to try racing in a national level spec class should jump in one (I think some have seats available ) and give it a try then if you want step up to one of the larger classes if you have money burning a hole in your pocket.

Those purses are a joke. Hell Texoma Labor Day poker run alone brought $40,000 on a BAD DAY. Might as well spend your time racing at a poker run. No wonder the races are never on TV. You could make more than ten times that if they used their boats for fishing instead - something is wrong with that picture.

tex you are right they are not where they should be , but we have to start somewhere and its the best deal out there,
also just to set the record straight a poker run is not a race by any stretch of the imagination ( I know everyone thinks they run hard I have been in plenty of poker runs) not even close to what a race is like, and while a riot in a poker run you play your card hand to decide payout nothing to do with how you ran , you are correct though I have been in bigger 50 /50 drawings ,
I think you guys should promote a race and set the purse where you feel it should be
just kidding I spend alot of time trying to come up with a way to get the sport bigger and have not come up with any revalations . By all means if you have some or any ideas please pm me I am all for any ideas

The purse is based on the number of boats at each event and in each class.
