Next Stop Destin for the OSS/POPRA Worlds
This past weekend at Lake of the Ozarks was fantastic but now it’s time to turn our attention to the World Championship Races in Destin Florida. Oct 29th - Nov 4th
This year in Destin you’ll notice a dramatic improvement over last year, a local race committee has been formed that is determined to provide a world-class race for the OSS and POPRA boats. They have evaluated all aspects of last year’s event and found ways to improve everything from dry pits accommodations to race fan viewing areas.
POPRA is invited too! John Haggin was nice enough to share some of Geico’s money to provide the P-Class boats with an inexpensive place to race for a World Championship title. John has donated $13,000, which will be used to cover towing expenses for the POPRA teams based on distance driven. Additional prize purse money for POPRA is in the works at this time.
The race site promoters in Destin have built a web site to help racers and race fans find information about the race and to find accommodation. www.destinworldcup.com The schedule will be the same as last year.
Wed - OSS testing and POPRA racing
Thurs - OSS racing
Friday – no racing
Saturday – OSS testing and POPRA racing
Sunday – OSS racing
Should you have any questions, you can always get answers by emailing [email protected]. We look forward to seeing you all in Destin.

Kevin tells me that he bought the software for the same GPS system that OPA runs and will use it in Destin. I'll let him elaborate.
We are working on a purse for the P-Class boats in Destin. As it is now, thank to Haggin, you'll be paid to race by receiving tow money. The tow money will be divided by all non OSS registered boats that run in the P Class race.
