Found New Speed!!!

Just wanted to inform all the svl guys that we found new speed! We now have world champion seats! I think they will be a great advantage, I will now be able to hold the throttles down full time instead of me bouncing around the cockpit! Hope you boys have something up your sleeves!!! :signs069:

Jen

Oh, by the way I think we are the only svl team that hasn't been beat by a girl!!!

Are you getting one of those NXT drives? I was reading they add like 4mph.

heater63 01-18-2009 08:06 PM

Actually the boat is no longer in my hands,Its somewhere warm.I'm told it is finally breaking the 90mph mark and they think they can get a few more out of it.So I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

TYPHOON 01-21-2009 09:18 AM

If you broke 90 it was on the trailor heading south down I-95 :evilb:

DPT MOTORSPORTS 01-21-2009 12:49 PM

Did you sell it? Who had it now??

heater63 01-22-2009 08:11 PM

didnt sell it! sent it out to someone who has more time than me.last report 93.6. Trying something else tomarrow.whats the matter Randy? Are you getting nervous? Your the only one who knows where it is.Maybe cause yours came from the shop to the podium in biloxi last year.

DPT MOTORSPORTS 01-22-2009 08:16 PM

I know where it is now. Back to the guy who had it running great the very first time around. Best of luck with her this year.

Hot Knots 01-23-2009 07:41 PM

AMF Lavey has some speed now too...

TYPHOON 01-24-2009 03:36 PM

While you are all out playing in the winter Typhoon is going with a complete re-rig of the boat. Deck is sanded and ready for paint, interior has some wiring changes, windshield is out getting tinted The box is getting sandblasted for paint, motor drive and gimbal will all be new from Merc. Looking for reliability and finishing more races in 09. No new speed just a clean up for now. I think 92 MPH is all you need to win in this class. Just make less mistakes and stay smooth. For the rest of you, sorry it didnt work out!!!!!!!!
MD

Aqua Banshee 01-25-2009 11:22 AM

Maybe 92 mph in the bumpy water, Its going to take 96 mph in the flat.

DPT MOTORSPORTS 01-25-2009 12:33 PM

I think it is amazing that you guys are getting that close to the 100mph mark with a single engine boat that only has a 525 in it. Very impressive to say the least. What is the Kilo right now for the class?

SVL4 01-25-2009 02:08 PM

I am going only on memory here. I thinkt Steve M set it in 2003 at around the 93 MPH mark.
Then, I believe either in 2007 or it might have been 06, Bob M, set a spped of either 96 or 98 in TN.
But, I would think the official record is Steve's.

Bob was using an 850 in his !!!! Just kidding Bobby.

It's going to be a great season in SVL this year!!!

Wil

DPT MOTORSPORTS 01-25-2009 02:19 PM

Thanks Will. I was wondering where it might have been set. How you been?

TYPHOON 01-25-2009 05:38 PM

Come on girlfriend!!!!!!! What you got sister? And Im not talking to you Gramaldi. Jenn lets see some pics.

Aqua Banshee 01-26-2009 09:38 AM

Pictures of what????? The boat or Jen?????

I am not even sure if she has bought a victory swim suit from LOTO yet.
In Orange Beech I think I heard a Sea Dog saying they were going undefeted the rest of the season. I guess that didn't work out!!!!!!!!

Our boat is in about the same shape. Windshield getting replaced, removed all the stickers, wet sanded the deck. That was a lot of fun about 4 cases of beer worth, tabs and box soon to be painted, new steering lines, Transom holes being filled, Tailpipes extended, interior being fine tuned, I will say the seats have gone over 200 mph on the water. worth at least 2 mph in our boat. Now where to put he extra 100 lbs we have to add this year???? We will be ready for the rough water this year!

That's the number in July 4th heat. That was when the lower spec Vortec was in place (5400 RPM 540 HP). An average 525 will dyno at 570- 575.
Steve

heater63 01-27-2009 04:06 PM

I think you got your numbers backwards my friend. If you can find me a 525 putting out 575hp I'll pay good money for it.If its a sealed motor.

You may want to check around. Everyone I have ever seen (525) is over 570 HP have been since 2003. I dont think this is by any means a secret. Considering I used to see every dyno sheet in all of APBA Offshore I have seen a few! A 525 out of the crate runs at that level.
Steve

heater63 01-28-2009 07:03 AM

maybe thats why I was getting my butt kicked all year

heater63 01-28-2009 07:07 AM

daredevil, 582hp? pm me your #,consider it sold.or just let miklos barrow it so he can run svl with us this year

TYPHOON 01-28-2009 07:36 AM

Doug, I dont think Steve is to far off on a sealed 525. Thats a dyno number from the crank before it goes threw the drive train. Merc's rated HP numbers are normally at the prop. They were conservative when they named it the 525. I would guess there is a 25 HP loss going threw the drive train.
Keep guessing why you got your a$$ kicked last year!!!!:cool-smiley-026:

Not sure how you would know that? I have the engine the Kostalec's (spelling) raced in 2006 at worlds and the other engine that has been with boat since 2005 both run the same.

The numbers are very similar to 2004.

Winter numbers are always encouraging! By fourth of july you feel like your engine is tired!
Steve

TYPHOON 01-31-2009 08:23 AM

Doug, You must be in a deep freeze up there. When you wake up from your dream its going to be back to reality! I heard it was more like 93.1 MPH
