The Chairman of the Board for the Offshore Super Series Offshore Powerboat Racing Association (OSS), Raymond Contreras, announced that the OSS Board . has received and accepted the resignation of Ron Polli, as President. Contreras said “Ron has served as the OSS President since August of 2007 and we would like to thank him for his dedication, hard work and commitment to our association and the sport of Offshore. We wish him all the best in the future. Please feel free to use John Brunner, operations director or myself as a point of contact going forward.
Contreras continued, “The Board of Directors has a renewed vision and focus as OSS moves into 2010 and beyond. Everyone is looking forward to our next event, the Lake of the Ozarks (LOTO) OSS Nationals in Missouri next month. We are blessed to have a very professional and experienced staff. We are confident in relying on their expertise and dedication at LOTO and future races. OSS has been negatively impacted by the current economy. We are actively working for the 2010 season and exploring ways to cut some of the expenses of producing a race. As we go forward, the list of proposed sites in 2010 looks very good and we will work with other organizations for the betterment of the sport.
The OSS Pro-Am Series is growing and gives the open cockpit boats a chance to race at our events. I have heard that as a result of the Pro-Am classes, there are a couple of teams looking to buy canopied boats for next year.
