Default 2010 Update

As was stated in a press release last month OSS and SBI will be doing joint racing starting at Biloxi May 20-23 2010. Our Biloxi race producers are always looking for different ways to put out the red carpet and this year will be no different. With the prospects of over 40 teams in attendance, this will be a racer's race. If anyone can arrange to be in town Thursday night, don't miss the Smokin' the Sound Sponsor's Party hosted by the Beau. Make plans to attend this great event complete with a dinner buffet and drinks. Anyone in their team uniform will be admitted to this gala.

For those that can't wait for Biloxi, SBI has invited OSS teams to race with them in Miami April 16-18. Whereas this will not be an OSS point race, it would be a good opportunity to test your setup and work the bugs out before Biloxi. If you are going to Miami, please contact John Brunner [email protected] so your name can be added to the list.

We will be drawing soon for the free hotel accommodations for the Biloxi race. Any team that was a member of OSS in 2009 will be eligible for this drawing. We will announce the winner in a couple of weeks. The Racer's Packet for Smokin' will be available as soon as we get hotel information with rates and the schedule of events finalized.

June 4-6 we will be in Kentucky, going back to Lake Cumberland. This year's race is hosted by Lees Ford Marina. Lees Ford is on the east end of the lake in Nancy, Kentucky and the town of Somerset is right next to the course. Lees Ford Marina is similar to State Dock; they have houseboat rentals and a great restaurant with a full bar. They also have cabins and condos for rent. To reserve a boat or accommodations visit www.leesfordmarina.com or call 606-636-6426. Somerset is the regional shopping area for Southeast Kentucky with plenty of hotels, restaurants, and stores. Race Village will be located in Somerset at the Center for Rural Development. "The Center" as it is known, located at 2292 S. Hwy. 27, is a multi-use facility that hosts concerts, conventions and meetings throughout the year. More information for this race will be forthcoming as we get closer to this date.

We are very happy to announce that once again this year we have TalkOffshore, featuring Martin Sanborn and Charlie Haimes, providing flag to flag coverage of the races. We are also reviewing offers for TV coverage; more details will be released as plans are finalized.

In addition to joining SBI in Sarasota on July 2-4, Michigan City Aug. 6-8 and Clearwater Oct. 1-3; we are also working on a couple more venues to add to 2010 schedule and other sites for 2011. Also don't forget, the 2010 General and Tech Rules have been approved by the Board and are posted under Racers Resources on the OSS website. You will also find the new forms for 2010 posted there.
