Best F1 racing in some time!

There were 14 worriers on the parade lap with one thing on there minds,to show what they got! Great clean start in some water that was true offshore. It was none stop exciting from start to finish. There were spin outs, breakage, stuffs and people getting tossed out on the last lap. There was changing of position on every lap and some of the best battles of the day.It didn't matter if you were in first or last,it was on the rev limiter for all. Thank to all who participated in it and thanks to all the fans cheering us all on.
Last news on the Levey Craft crew is everyone is OK but beat up bad.We have a new threat in F1 with them now!

I am sorry I couldnt be there to see you guys, I heard you put on one heck of a show, but being behind at work, you know how it goes. Congrats on your victory Randy/Glenn, I am glad to hear that the Lavey boys are ok, and Gino/Mark hats off to you for stopping, you guys are class acts. I know it is an unwritten rule to stop, but you didnt have to.
Just out of curiousity, whatever came out of the meeting on Fri Night with the one engine, one drive deal?

jcap 10-06-2003 10:33 AM

GREAT JOB RANDY AND GLENN!
typhoon rules the seas once again!

Peconic 10-06-2003 11:23 AM

This was an incredible race. Seas were calm in the morning, but whoooo-aaaaah did they pick up a few hours later. And the worriers turned into true warriors, battling to the end, not giving an inch.

Most amazing, and a show of incredible skill and professionalism: The lid-less F1 boats often were faster in the deep snot than some covered SVL wagons.

Way to go! Hooooooaahhhhh!

This will be a race for the history books!

Peconic 10-06-2003 11:42 AM

Trent: Apparently - and a cause for some controversy - it is a written rule not to stop. This rule needs to be reviewed. Hats off to Gino & Mark for breaking the rules.

There was great solidarity amongst the racers. For a while, Gino & Mark looked like they would not place due to the penalty. The other teams did not agree at all. And they made their position known to the powers-that-be.

I am just happy to hear that Kevin and David are "ok". Last night when I went to the APBA site and read that they had been tossed we were worried.

Although it was nice to hear that they were running out front. After seeing this boat run in Oceanside to open the season out west there was no doubt in my mind they would run and win against the best.

Peconic 10-06-2003 01:21 PM

This in re David.

Allen Campbell talked to David Rehm. Sounds like David felt better at the docks than he really is. He's out of the hospital, but had to go back twice for check-ups. Looks like several cracked vertebrae.

This being not a condition for flying back to the West Coast, he's planning on making the trip in the truck. It's a long way with a shot back.

David definitely will not be able to make St. Pete. But he hopes to be back on-line for the Worlds.

Flashwave 10-06-2003 01:30 PM

Actually guys David has 2 fractured vertebrae and a partially collapsed lung. He's in Lauderdale having to go back to the hospital every few hours to have x-rays taken to see if the lung is expanding back on its own. If not, then the doctors have to expand it back for him. David is very sore but in good spirits. He can't fly home, so he'll be driving back with the boat later this week.

Yes, this was the best F1 racing all season. With the big water it was a hang it all out go for the gold race. Unfortunately, we blew a coupler after the 2nd lap. For everyone racing...it was on! Typhoon looked great..especially when the Lavey blew by. Randy had to be saying WTF. It was back and forth for the rest of the race in great deck to deck fashion. This was great entertainment.

Gino and Mark are great guys. Thanks for stopping and covering for David and Kevin at the accident. We've seen this time and time again. Racers always stop to render assistance if they are the first at an accident. It's just what we do.

Per the 2003 APBA Offshore Rule Book, Downloadable on www.apbaoffshore.com

RULE 11 – ACCIDENT ENCOUNTERS

The first racing craft to encounter an accident scene shall stop to render assistance (and notify Race Control on 78A). If the ultimate finishing position of a boat stopping to render assistance is negatively affected thereby , points shall be awarded as follows:

A. First Boat to Stop - When one boat stops to assist another boat in trouble: the boat that stops to assist receives points for the position it was in at the scoring point just prior to when he stopped.

B. Points and Prize Money - That boat that actually finishes in that place receives the same amount of points as the boat that assisted, and they split any prize money that would normally be awarded to either or both of the boats.

C. Scoring Instructions - The position the assisting boat actually finished in is skipped. For example, A-1 stops to help at an accident, and at that point he was in third place. There were seven boats running in the class, and A-2 actually finishes third. A-1 and A-2 both receive third place points, and they split third place prize money. The position A-1 actually had been scored in for the finish would then be omitted from the final standings.

D. Awarded Time - If the boat should continue on racing after assisting and if the time out of the race is verifiable, the time out may be taken off to determine their finish. This decision is at the discretion of the Referee and may not be protested or appealed.

E. First Lap Assist Scoring - In the event an accident occurs on the first lap of a race before any official scoring position has been reached, and if the time out of the race is not verifiable, then the boat stopping to assist shall be awarded the median place of finish for that class. (ie: if there are 10 boats in the class, then the boat stopping to assist shall be awarded 5th place) If the boat stopping to assist continues the race and betters their scoring position, then the boat shall be awarded its actual place of finish. This decision is at the discretion of the Referee and may not be protested or appealed. (Prize money and points awarded in accordance with paragraphs B and C above)

F1-00 Racing 10-06-2003 02:40 PM

hmmm I stand corrected, I thought it was a discretionary decision by officials(to give rescue boat the place they had) but looks like APBA has circled the wagons and are on top of it, Good rule guys, it makes me feel that much better in the event(God Forgive)anything were to happen to me.

Peconic 10-06-2003 02:50 PM

Right. I just wanted to post same rules.

I'm confused now. He did stop. Why the controversy then?

MANITIE 10-06-2003 03:17 PM

HAT'S OFF F1 GUY'S:
This is not a put down to the SVL Teams... But I think we showed that it takes a rare type of person to get into a open cockpit in a F1 in those sea's and pass the SVL teams in boats that are 6 to 9 mph faster then us, I think we might have gained some respect from other racers.
To Offshore Addiction: You guys have been out of the points race for alittle while but yet you keep on showing up and racing....for the love of the sport. That is just great sportsmanship. I'm still yelling at Mark....If I ever see that purple boat in front of us again I'm going to kick your ass.
To Flashwave: Jim I respect you for making the trip all year from the West Coast and giving every thing you got...even at your age....Go AARP!!!!....and your trusty driver.
To Worldplayer: Eddie you two deserve that finish. You've been running all year with so much more wieght than we've been running, and you put in alot of time over the years....hope you get some GM Vortec money for that.
To Screamin Eagle: Allen you've had 3 different drivers in your first year and still keep on finishing up front and to be swimming with the fishes just one race ago and still finish 3rd says alot....We should have a senior class...you and Jim!!!! another AARP member.
To LeavyCraft: I'm mad at both of yu's because you where supposta hook me up with your friend....and to get out of it because you think you are flying Moose and Squirrel is not going to cut it...Dave forget about the hospital....You don't need no stinkin doctor......Alittle Duct tape dose alot....can you say AFLAC!!!! Hope your felling better and if there is anything we can do let us know.....except help you win!!! sorry.
An to my buds Typhoon: Great job..as much as it hurts to say that. But I think we needed that ass kicking to put things back into prospective for us.....Plus I'd give a win to see that black tooth of yours.....but maybe things happen for a reason....if Laveycraft did'nt spin out it would have been us trying to catch you guys. I was getting pissed the way we were running.

Thanks guys

Peconic 10-06-2003 03:28 PM

And no more quitting talk after that, Gino, please.

And you will see that purple boat in front of you again. If the trim would have worked, we would have stayed out in front...

MANITIE 10-06-2003 03:52 PM

You Bastered,
I told Mark if he ever try's a new set up without us testing first...his going to be racing in your boat.....All kidding aside Mark and I were even talking about you guys...know matter where you are in the points standings you show up to race and you guys were running great.

kitten 10-06-2003 08:23 PM

What black tooth??

Peconic 10-06-2003 08:34 PM

I was afraid it wouldn't wash off! Could you imagine going threw life looking like Gino's brother
MD:eek:

MANITIE 10-07-2003 06:31 PM

Just when I'm starting to get up from your ass kicking you gave us Saturday ........you kick me down again.

oui 10-09-2003 11:48 AM

Maybe if we had a couple more laps that scratch on the boat may have opened up and bled a little....the outcome may have been a little different......it was one heck of a lot of fun & competitive with a bunch of great people!!!

AARP my ARSE! Them's fightin' words pal. Guns, knives, chains, ...all the same to you; all the same to me. :D

But seriously....five different drivers in eight races. I use deodorant...really, I do. Brush my teeth too. I just can't figure it out.

It is a huge credit to Lute Dickey and Mike Gordon that they can get in my boat with minimum practice time and come in third. My hat is off to these guys. Truly great professional drivers.

As for you Gino...Fights on in St. Pete...Senior Class my ass!

Allen

Peconic 10-09-2003 04:26 PM

Get 'em Allen! Guess chairs will do just fine to subdue them.

And remember: If you are in Senior Class, then they are in Junior Class .....

screamin eagle 10-09-2003 05:19 PM

Good point Peconic. But they have been kicking my butt all year...so how about some respect for your elders boy? Don't they teach manners up North? Jeeze!

Peconic 10-09-2003 05:42 PM

North? They are South .... Gino is supposed to be a VA gentleman .., maybe he's a Veteran's Administration gentleman ...

MANITIE 10-11-2003 09:47 AM

Penconic,
Damm....you might just come up missing after St. Pete....alittle recon is still in the blood.

Allen,
Good to hear that that someone can still get you pissed off. I heard that you might be only racing this and next year so I'm laying the ground work if your thinking about getting out after next year.....this is my comments to keep you going. Its just phsycological warefare. I don't know if they teach that in the Air Force...but they do in certain branches of the Military.
See ya in St. Pete.

Peconic 10-11-2003 10:07 AM

Jeez, Gino.

Now I need to borrow a Fulton device from my buddies at the 106th and lug it all the way down to St. Pete.

And Allen's buddies will need to put a C-130 overhead.

This is turning into a complex operation.

DanB 10-11-2003 10:30 AM

Hey guys
In case you never noticed...theres a little Marine Corps sticker on the back of Screamin Eagle.
They taught us a little about Recon and Psyops, so dont let your guard down troop. :)

Would there be a new improved pair of Warlocks coming to town?;)

Just in-case you all have not noticed the REHAB sticker on the side of our motor home you all could be in big trouble.

I thought that sticker covered part of the motorhome that de-lam'd.

"There are five distinct varieties of kryptonite (black, red, gold, blue, and white), the first three of which are toxic to Superman.

Black kryptonite, the only variety potentially fatal to Superman, induces lassitude and inertia followed by death if not removed in time from Superman's presence.

Red kryptonite inflicts bizarre and unpredictable - albeit temporary and nonfatal - symptoms, as when it divides Superman into twins or transforms him into an infant or a giant ant.

Gold kryptonite would permanently rob Superman of his super-powers were he ever to be exposed to its radiations.

These three varieties of kryptonite are similarly hazardous to Supergirl, Krypto the Superdog, and all other surviving natives of Krypton.

Blue kryptonite is toxic only to Bizarro creatures. White kryptonite is harmful only to plant life. Whenever the word kryptonite appears in this encyclopaedia without a specific color designation, it is black kryptonite, the most common variety, that is being referred to. "
