Jersey Boyz, the next episode
#1
The Jersey Boyz saddled up and drove out to St Clair this weekend in an effort to rejuvenate offshore racing in the Great Lakes region. They also went out to settle a score with some of the more outspoken OSS race teams.
Dead fish and $hit pies have been mailed back and forth so no one knew what to expect when they met face to face. All they knew was that it wasn't going to end there.
At the OPA meeting, seven more teams registered for the OPA season, this brings the OPA boat count to 54 teams. At the meeting Augie called Tom Abrams and Mike Stancombe up to the stage. Their ashen faces showed their reluctance to go too close to Augie, the tattooed wonder. But the Godfather was gracious and in typical Jersey Boyz fashion, spread the love by inducting Tom and Mike as official Jersey Boyz. After they swapped blood, Augie handed Tom and Mike Official Jersey Boyz plaques complete with baseball bats and 45 caliber pistols including blood stained bullets. (don't ask how they got these through Canada's border customs). As the plaques were handed out, Augie was heard saying, "Tom and Mike, you realize that once you enter this family, there's no getting out."
Then it was off to the go- cart track that ran non stop for 12 hours. Some 17 year old kicked everyone's azz including Tyler Crockett that had been practicing for the last six months.
Look for the OPA teams to race in St Clair with the OSS teams, Algonac Mich and Mentor Ohio this summer.
Way to go guys! Leave it to the Jersey Boyz to put the fun back into Offshore Racing.
Ok, who's got pictures!

Wow Ron sounds like you were there
Sorry to let you down but my camera never left my purse and Julie from Traffic Light said she forgot her's as well
I will tell you that everyone had a blast we all got to race as much as we wanted. Boomer(Nick) might have the record for the most number of laps, and me for bruises.
The food was good and the Hatchers from Lets Play Racing donated a lot of it from there new restuarant. After the championship race at 9:00 a bunch of us headed over to Hatchies to continue the party
Ed Smith and his team put on a great event I think anyone that was there can not wait until next years Kart fundraiser. Ian and I are still grinning from ear to ear we had so much fun

Hi Donna,
Glad to hear you made it, but you know better than not taking some pictures. I got the full report from da boyz during the ride home.
How'd you like those plaques? Augie has a nack for designing incredible trophies.
See ya this summer.

Thankyou, all. Too many new faces and names. It's gonna take a day or two before it all settles in. The Jersey Boyz felt right at home with our northern brothers, and sisters. It was a great time learning a little more about the racing history of the Great Lakes. Being fairly new to this sport, sometimes I forget all that has gone before us, is what makes it possible for us to do what we do. Anyone that is on the fence about racing this season, better get their act together real soon. The energy around racing in the lakes and rivers is hugh. When the green flag goes up, we wait for no one. Now is your time..........The Boyz are here for you. We gave up a few of our own local sites to come up there and join forces. We have done all we can for you. Now support your brother racers and get it done. Algonac Race #1 will set the tone for the 2006 season. OPA,AMF, Blue Water, Glopra,CBPBA, NJ Offshore, We all went to work. St Clair will be out of control. Be a part of racing history, Bigger things to come. Anyone needs any info, call me 732 920 3945. See ya at the races. Smitty. PS sorry Tyler.............
