Ouch. I can just see the :hitfan: now...:party-smiley-004:

Welcome to class 4! Just stay outta class five! :evilb:

I'm all for building the boat for the class and until there's technical specs to build to or hp limits placed there will always be teams pushing the envelope with hp. As stated a million times its all about acceleration.

What are you talking about Smitty?( If it doesnt go my way) What does this have to do with me. Im responding to another racers post about big HP in a boat and responding to what I think. The rules are locked down for another year. Trust me I get it!!!!!!!! A lot of people are going to get there a$$ kicked based on those rules for one more year. Not everyone including myself will build more power for there boat. It is what it is. Some people can make up for it with talent and some cant. Im sorry if I cant get the FAIR thing out of my head.
PS Just a thought, you might want to let the teams that you are moving up know in advance before they show at the first race. Whatever back at ya.

Randy, I do understand the fair thing. It is called spec class. We are not spec so along comes all the multiple engine-boat combinations. It is as close as it is going to get. I do think class 6 and 5 should be a pump gas class. This will help. Why not race the Xtreme with Octane and Bruce ? If you did, I could insure that Miklos would come. Not to take away from your OSS racing, But if there is a gap in the schedule, why not. Then you have the fair thing. Again I will offer up no fee, and 5K a race. It just seems that every time we start this conversation it goes no where.

Hey Guys, help me out here. The way I see it is if Miss Geico wants to run lets say p3 class and never brakesout then that's fair. I feel that the opa system is about as fair as it gets. If you run 1500hp and only go 95mph then you can run p3. If at any time you go over 95mph you are dqed. Very simple. The gps system is one of the best things out there. YOU CAN"T CHEAT THE SPEEDS. We ran p2 all last year and never won. The boat was just not up for it. So we tried to run p3 and found our spot. we were beat on the turns but evenup on the straights. Tells me we need to perfect our turning. Also setup is the next biggest thing. I don't care how much power you have, if you can't drive it you won't win it. I can't see how every boat having the same power would make things that much fairer. Also i'm sure if there is a dispute about how the boat runs, there is a way to take it out and run with an offical. If you don't like that then you must have something to hide.

Smitty.................great job with the OPA. If you don't like the playing field then make your own. The masses will go where they feel things are fair.

Lots of boats are more than able to break out if adjustment are changed. Also there is the balls or experience that the team running the boat has. I feel most of the races are won in the turns, all are able to hit there top speed in the straights but some can bust ass in the turns where others must slow way down.

Side note on that boat...............it is for sale!!!!!

All due respect to the fore fathers of the sport such as Art Lilly. However there has to be a limit to the amount of "chipping down" as some call it. And there is no "magic" in propping and chipping to stay in the rules of a lesser class. The only concessions i see that should be made here are for safety. And that boat is plenty safe to run class 3. As far as "balls or experience" goes that is all relavent.

And i have to beleive that Mocean ran a whole lot more than 85 on Closed Course day at Chattanooga.

The way I heard it was, it was Art's son's 1st race....
To me there is a simple solution....and as it was explained to me when I started racing in OPA....is that racers don't decide where they race....So if there is a concern about another teams placement in a class becasue of HP and a boats cabibility you take it up to Smitty and state your case....

Now remember....just because you feel you think your statment is the right one...dose not always make you right...but the main thing to remember is OPA's door is always open for comments or concerns....

Every racing Org has racers that feels one way or another things are not fair...even in spec racing....that will never change....even going back to the old APBA days when there was 80 boat racing....you will never please everyone....but if the officals are willing to sit down and talk to you....thats more then fair....
