Louie is correct night I was told that I was wrong and Ocean City, MD RD1 WAS NOT THE FIRST RACE OF THE TRIPLE CROWN SERIES. |
i was looking for more of the details about the series. is there anyone that can help me out??? Is there going to be the standard opa purse for each race, or is it only at the end of the series that you have the chance at the purse?? :evilb:
|
Having been correct on the chronological order of the events, I will go out on a limb here, you would have to compete in all 3 events to be eligible for the prize money, and the points accumulated would give you your place in the series.

I appreciate everything the OPA, Smitty, John and Geico have done for us but I would really like to get some information straight because the information I was given at Kart-to-Kart is different than what is being posted.
2008 Should be a good year!! |
This was asked at the meeting we had last night at cart to cart and we were trying to clarify.
If a team was only able to attend one of the Triple Crown races and for what ever reason could not do the other two, they do not recieve any winning money if they place? Either regular OPA payout or the Triple Crown payout? In other words its a winner take all at the end? I got the impression there may be a few racers that might not be able to make all three and if its a combined deal there wasnt any incentive to do just a single race. just trying to relay some of the questions i heard. Thanks  |

You still get points for racing in your class. And its "Patchogue" and Dave is right, real men go racing chicks go to weddings, lol. The object of what we do is to make all the races. Support all the sites. I guess its time to get the facts straight. Louie |
just send a condolence card...wedding taken care of :D

I was told we would have a team meeting and get some stuff Ironed out at O.C., but I need some stuff Ironed out before hand or I may not even make O.C.. Everything you guys are doing is great, but I think there is some miscommunication between coasts than need to be worked out, who can I call and when? |

Lets see, entrance free racing, Monster Purse, TV, ESPN Broadcast, and still they cry. What else do you need, free delivery of your equipment? and a stunt double to run the boat? Sheesh

Rick my phone hasn't rung yet

the only thing in question was the wording. I think most teams figured, myself included, that the standard OPA purse applied to the Ocean City, Patchogue and Point Pleasant venues and the triple crown was a seperate deal. We now understand that it is not. This may or may not affect certain teams from showing we'll have to see how it pans out. People need to remember that racing is privledge not a right. The OPA has gone to great lengths to better our sport and the support is behind you guys 110%. There was just some miscommunication on this topic. Maybe now that the season is less than two months away we need to start the conference calls again???? If we miss Ocean City then Patchogue and Point Pleasant is for bragging rights only...but that's worth the drive right there!!! you eastcoasters got nothin' on the Michigan crowd :evilb: :D |
Rick, which boat are you running in which class? In the race you may not be able to make? Assuming the whole Triple Points deal is based on boat and not crew, maybe I can run the boat for you. if running order of classes don't clash.

Thanks Smitty for answering all my questions and getting thing straighten out. .....
|
Rick. I'll make you a deal. You spend your $ and come to Ocean city. In return I will spend my money and go to St Clair. Whatever position I place, I will give you my Prize money. How's that for gambling.
|
Rick and Smitty....I dont mean to distrub in the middle of your deal but Rick, that sounds like a good deal to me. Up to you, Rick.

That’s fair, but I also don’t want you to feel like you need to carry another team financially to a race. You do a more than most people realize, I don’t want to be the straw the broke the camel back, so to speak. |

If we had 113 boats, we would still be looking to help that one team that needs us. Never loose your focus. And Yes we do have some GOOD EGGS at our diposal. Thanks Jim. |
Just my 2 cents. We are a new team and planing on making Ocean city and as many races as possible if the boat holds together:boat: that long. I think the idea of winning any money in a field this big with a new team and an old boat is pretty much pot luck but we are still coming to whatever we can make. I think just showing up is a gamble but I see every ones point that if you miss one of the Triple Crown races then you are out of the money for all 3. With that said I was thinking of this as more of a form of entertainment not a break even or make money proposition form of racing? Run what ya brung correct?
