Chattanooga Cancellation

For Immediate Release
Cancellation: Chattanooga US Powerboat Championship Races & Speed Runs
Rossville, GA – September 15, 2008. The 4th Annual Chattanooga US Powerboat Championship Races and Speed Runs will be canceled this year. Along with not meeting our finical goals this year, Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) had to start their annual river drawdown earlier than normal this year due to the continuing drought conditions. Even though TVA has agreed to assist us by supplying the needed water to conduct our races safely, we feel that without the finical backing this year and with the present fuel situation and travel expense it is in the best interest to cancel the event this year.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may have on the racers and fans that were planning to attend this year.
We would like to express our appreciation to the Offshore Performance Association for their support and understanding in this decision. To our current sponsors and our dedicated volunteer staff, thank you for all your hard work. But rest assured we will race another day.
For more information contact Jim Poplin, Executive Director STARS Powerboat Racing Rescue Team (706) 861-1417 [email protected]

What a bummer, this is my favorite race!! We always look forward to seeing Jim and the rest of his crew. They are Great people!!!
As you know we haven't been to any races this year but I have always said I would do anything for Pops even if it meant pulling down my pleasure boat just to help out.
I understand the situation with the cancellation but mark us down for next year!!
I appreciate all the work you do for the sport!!
