Personally I dont think any SVL boats want to run in Class 5. 75 MPH in a 92 MPH boat is not much fun. If the SVL boats as a group would come I would guess they would race in class 3 just so they could race at WOT against each other.
Is there a reason why Cat- Lite doesnt race in class 1 to fill that class and reduce a class? Shouldnt there be some rule in place that if there are not 5 boats min. in a class you move up until your class builds. Im just not a fan of so many classes with so few boats. MD If the topic is SVL and they can run 92....why would they not prop down and set the boat up to 84.7 MPH... Your F1 boat is a 83 mph boat, but you set it up to race it in Class 5 at 75mph and you do well in that class Why would the SVL's not do the same like Laveycraft,Team Actane and Bruce dose and bring more boats to class 4 If your boat is set up right you can run WOT...If you drop down 2 pitch sizes you will lose 5 to 6 mph....or drop one pitch size and tuck her in a little more then you usally do...you then can run WOT...is it the true capaible speed of your boat...no...but what boat out here is....the closer you can set up a boat to not braking out you will run up front....when you have to keep feathering back to not brake out you are loosing valuable speed....Spec racing is all about set up for the optimum speed for the water conditions...Class racing is all about set up but to the water conditions without braking out....but in either case if the set up is right, you will run WOT.....why not get some of the SVL's and bring them out and see how it works in Class 4.. Just a tought.... |
Thats why they run spec. They are only interested in WOT tweeked and trimmed to the max. Not real interested in looking at a GPS.

I understand.....I was just posting about were SVL's could fit in without starting a new class and make Class 4 even bigger....
I quess I'm thinking with 6 bracket class's and the Pro Series and Turbine and Extreme...even with all them there will always be boats that will not fit into a class...some will always be at a disadvantage.... And again...I'm just voicing my opion... I guess my thinking overall is how do we make our current class's bigger without adding more class's and get the boat count up at every race site...... |

MD by the way, your boat will run WOT with a smaller prop just not as fast. |
LAST CALL !!!! In 165 posts I have read everything I care to about boat count and don't damage a class and how to get racers to all 8 races.I think we have all lost sight of the shore? The love of hanging and banging and knowing you held it down as long and hard as you and your equipment could stand!!!!Anyone remember those days? That is why I keep pushing this semi-spec single class, Anyone really want to do this???? Sounds like OPA will give us a class, wanta-race or play gps video games? Al Culbertson 410-967-5039

Smitty has said on many occasions he will be happy to work with any group of racers. If Randy could get 5 SVL to show up and police themselves the OPA will allow them to race under there banner and Ins.
Maybe Randy could round up some SVL's and lock them in to race Harrison, MI. Cambridge, MD and Chatt, TN. IMHO SVL's could be the future of the sport. Fast, Affordable, Reliable and small enough were the avg. person could store the boat in there back yard. |
Rick I sure will try to see if I can get some of the SVL teams to do a race or two. I also think it would be great if OPA made a commitment to run with OSS again at the Worlds in 09. It would be before KW so if teams wanted to do both they could. I guess what I am saying is I want OPA and OSS to work together in 09 and a joint Worlds would sure help all feel good about racing in both Org.

[QUOTE=2 Trick Rick;2748549]70 lead to 75mph (70 being the creation of class #6) if 75 leads to 78, than 78 will lead to 80 and so on...
The speed should stay the same in every class, if you want to go faster than power up and move up. QUOTE] amen brother |
Randy, if the SVL wanted to come to Harrison Twp we could give you a SVL class and run it in the second race so you guys could also run Class 4. Are you guys up to it?
Come on Randy, it works in your schedule. Call me 810-305-8787 |
Dean how about you let the 4,5 and 6 boats race saturday???
And this has nothing to do with the fact saturday night's festivities might make passing the breath alyzer a little difficult! :party-smiley-004::drink: |
That would be cool, it would also free up time and allow a two race format. I always like that in Cambridge. Volunteers and permits are the issue though.
Hey, when are you bringing ILMOR, Champion and the rest of your boys for their sponsorship packages. I will give them an ad in the magazine, pit displays and may be have ILMOR as a paceboat. ?????????????????????????????????????? Well???????? |
Rick just called me about this yesterday. All of them are in Orlando for PRI this week. Lets get together next week.
Can't speak for Ilmor until I talk to them, but i will go ahead and say champion is onboard, even if I pay out of my pocket. I have been waiting too long for Offshore to come back to Michigan not to help out however i can. I'm working on two other "marketing partners" both for my boat and this event. Will bring some good hands-on "eye candy" to the event if it works out...:drink: |
