i'm all for it. like it wasn't bad enough getting beat-up by evil ED and dave s., add a few more cats to atleast run with.

I think it would be a good idea of they would agree....less class's more boats.... = great racing...

More boats in a class is always better. But you also have to consider how it impacts the other classes. Going from C2 105mph to 120 mph is a huge jump. In my opinion it would also create two negatives. 1. Very few Vees could compete in Class 1 at that speed. I can't think of any that would run OPA at that speed. May be the Cintron 42. 2. It would push boats into Class 2 that don't belong.

Class 2 is going to be an very interesting class this year if you have some boats dropping down and the fast open canopies limited to 2. Could be fun....

Thats also a good point...we were looking to run in C1 this year...but choise Class 2...but with a 120 speed...it would take the Dragon out of it....we would have to run some really big HP and would loose the realiabilty we would have wiith just the 750's...

first off, i'm not trying to get or force the catlites to do anything. i merely stating that if P1 ran faster speeds we could run side by side at SOME of the races and atleast make the appearance that we're running together. this would be funnier for the racers and put on a better show.

as for the big jump and a disadvantage to the vees. yes maybe, but with all the races i did last year with sbi i was able to run down and pass within the first lap all the super and unlimited vee's. after that it was boring and i would just try to chase down the catlites. i will point out that i was put in my place in OC,Md. by smitty, and love muscle.

i would disagree about being able to make the 15 mph jump. after being in KW and watching the fountain P1 boat dominate, those guys had no problem. stock illmors let that boat run 117.

and for P2 that seems to be the new vee class. you guys just need to push bandit up with us.

Dave,

You have very good points. No matter what speed C1 is I don't think you are going to see the Factory Fountains run OPA since there is no media benefit when you are beaten.

I agree with you on a Cat with 750s not running C2.

wahoo, i like to point out that thereis NO media benefit even when beat the Factory Fountains. i watched some of the american powerboat tv website, and it was exactly what i thought. a big reggie commercial. hopefully http://www.supercatracing.com/ gets some more help. i can atleast watch boats racing on that website.

back to the rules. i think that as the speeds go up, that the gap inbetween the mph should get a little more. for example 75 to 85 is a big jump but from 105 to 115 is not that big of a jump.

Dave,
I think you missed my point on Media. Even when there is only one boat in the class, they still claim a World Championship or win. It is then in every magazine for years to come. If they stand a chance of not "winning" they will not come.. That has nothing to do will the rules, but they are the majority of Race Vee's capaible of running 120mph.

dean, i understand you 100%. just look at KW this year. they actually had two vee extreme classes????

this is why i drove from florida to NY to race with the OPA. certain orgs are controlled by outside sponsorship and focus entirely on that manufacturer. the OPA focuses on boat racing!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't suspect you would see any of this coverage on the "Reggie Show".

But no matter what manufacturer gets busted up, I do my best to try and get non-biased coverage of it...

Afterall, people might learn something from it....
