Bruce, the OPA class 5 rules dont state no twin engine boats and this boat is a 30 ft boat if swim platforms count then hell ill put one on my boat i need some extra feet i meen what the hell if he fits the 75mph bracket then thats where he runs he said max 80 mph i know my boat will run over 80 and im not alone but ill die in the dam thing at 75 why push it man i say we let this guy race see how he does and go from there its a stock boat for christ sake ..... and i'd love to see ya winnin some prize checks in the opa this year bring that girl out pull that 4 sale sticker off and come relax and race your boat

TeamSaris 02-19-2009 08:52 PM

As long as Class 5 stays a 75mph class where a 27 foot boat can have fun, were in no matter what. I didnt say win or be competative, just fun. Idc if Im battling someone for 12th place, as long as im running next to someone and battling its fun.

heater63 02-19-2009 09:08 PM

smitty tell me more about the single engine v class,Im not crazy bout runnin against 1600 hp twin engine 38ft boats with my 525 single 27ft boat. But I will

I think this is absolutely awesome and great for the sport. Can't wait to see you and Boomer battling. I think I just may have to bring Brittany out in the Bat Boat to kick the Boys butts.

I just figured between you, Octane, and Bruce, maybe it was worth looking at. I know the SVL fleet has their hands full with the OSS schedule, I was just asking if the NE guys wanted to try it. I have a few spare 525's, I would loan one to the inmocean Phantom. That would make four. Up to you. Smitty on Boomer's Screen name

Boomer hopefully if everything works out i'll be able to race the Patchouge race (SP?) It's nice to see such support here. I think your dad would let me run P-5 barring any rule changes. It's a pleasure boat with stock Mercury power. Good luck this season.

heater63 02-20-2009 11:39 PM

smitty,I like the idea.Or maybe I'll just cut the canopy off and run class 5.lets see what kind of response we get from the others

****, I would be if I was in Class 4 :drink:

heater63 02-22-2009 09:56 PM

Scared Augie? I dont think so my friend! I just dont think a canopy makes up for 11ft of boat and 1100hp.I tend to break alot more things at 85mph than I would at 75mph.makes it hard to make every race when you putting out so much money for repairs.none the less I will be there in class 4 until the money runs out.I was only stating that I liked the idea of a single engine v class

Aqua Banshee 02-22-2009 11:09 PM

Where does it say in the rules that you cannot run a canopy in class 5?

good point....I dont think it does.

PERFORMANCE CLASSES
DESIGINATION TOP SPEED NUMBER
Class X Up to 150 MPH X#
Class 1 Up to 115 MPH *** 1#
Class 2 Up to 105 MPH 2#
Class 3 Up to 95 MPH 3#
Class 4 Up to 85 MPH 4#
Class 5 Up to 75 MPH ** 5#
Class 6 Up to 70 MPH* 6#*

Performance Class 6 is designed as an entry level class. No boats over 26 feet in length and no boats with twin engines may compete in this class.
**The Performance 5 class is limited to boats 30 ft and under with single or twin engines.

heater63 02-23-2009 07:01 AM

I dont think there are any rules about canopy in 5. question is, Is it a 90 mph boat sandbaging in class 5? I know our old tub just cant get it done in 4 thats why we are in 5

heater63 02-23-2009 07:19 AM

Sandbagging? Dont even go there with me.

GoFastSonic 02-23-2009 07:32 AM

i dont know your boat or you i am just saying most boats that run canopies are capable of higher speeds.

heater63 02-23-2009 07:45 AM

I guess its better to be in a small boat beating big boats than in a big boat beating small boats lol

GoFastSonic 02-23-2009 07:51 AM

Im just out for a boat ride. Any thing else is pure Gravy:rolleyes:

AugiePensa 02-23-2009 09:51 AM

I've been beat by smaller boats many times, sometimes 8000 pounds lighter, that's racing! But big or small, ain't none of ya can beat me in cooking! Now there's a challenge for ya heater. Or, I could just cook and you taste. You in?

fantastixvoyage 02-23-2009 10:48 AM

It was established in a conference call last year or maybe even the year before....no canopied boats in class 5 EXCEPT the bat boats.

I wouldn't see the point in racing class 5 with a canopied phantom, etc anyways.

Why is it not listed in the rule book than?

heater63 02-23-2009 11:59 AM

What the heck was the other guy in? an inflatable? My 38 scarab weighs 10400lbs,thats with the refrigerator door on.lol As far as cookin, you already won that one,I cant cook to save my life.I love to eat a good meal though so if you'll cook it I'll buy it.Send me the grocery list for Ocean City.

heater63 02-23-2009 12:09 PM

Just a thought here,so dont anybody loose there shorts over it.what if you were to limit the horsepower of a canopied boat in class 5.?

Dunno, maybe they didn't feel the need to state the obvious! :angry-smiley-038: j/k guess it should be added.

heater63 02-23-2009 12:26 PM

Aqua I think we may have hit a soft spot with fantastixvoyage!

fantastixvoyage 02-23-2009 12:39 PM

Haha nah just playin' fool!

But in all honesty it was pretty unanimous that the batboats are the only ones that should be allowed. Octane did a great job proving that - awesome job in 4 even in their first season.

heater63 02-23-2009 12:42 PM

maybe I'll just buy willies boat and run class 5.I sure would love to beat that TYPHOON boat! I heard he the one to beat this year. That way I could beat him in both SVL and p5

Aqua Banshee 02-23-2009 12:42 PM

Just reading what the rule book says. I have learned that no ever reads it.
