It only makes 650hp so it should be good for C-5.

Hey Dean.....we had planned on the Ilmor/Indy drive package.....but because of the lack of room in the engine compartment we just went with the ILMOR engine....we will have the ILMOR/INDY package in our next project...
We just wanted to get a boat out there this year with the C.G. till our next project is done.....
I was very inpressed with the ILMOR Team....nothing against Mercury Racing....but we have been talking since the end of 2008 with ILMOR and every conversation has been very positive and it met all the needs which we will need in the furture....
I also think with racing it is very good for the sport to have more then one engine builder....and with Mercury looking at some big HP projects...I really think the 550 to 750 hp range is were alot of racers and proformance boating hp range are....and it really looks that is were ILMOR is.....

I still have to go with my old Krypto. If they ran that Avanti that good they will be hard to stop in there new boat. I think Super Boat Ed and Mark will have something as well. Special Ed may be out classed in the big water. Who's your Daddy with the twin S.B. will be tough as well. Mitigator's been quit this could mean differant thing's. I am trying to get there to watch this battle. It should be great!!! Class 5 rocks in my book.

We looked closely at the class 5 boats and HP being run....
other then the 525, running at around 560 hp most are running between 600 and 650+ hp.
So we will be running around the some prop as the rest....
We are taking the Imco shortie off and putting on a standard Sportmaster lower
I have been talking to Smitty about this engine package since Jan. and we in no way do we want to hurt the class with the ILMOR, we want to help the class in its furture growth....I do think it is and will be the biggest class, and if Smitty feels we need to drop the HP then we will do what ever he wants us to do....
I think its great for the old F1 guys and the Performance 5 racers over the years to go at it in Class 5, I just thought you were going to be running in it.....

Hey Gino, are you going to switch over to the Ilmor drive too? I haven't seen one on the water yet.

Hey Ron,

That was the plan...but as you can see in the pics...no room for the tranny....but we will have the ILMOR/Indy package in the next project...its a bad @ss package
Looking foward in doing some cool projects with them....
