The Grass Roots To Offshore Racing
With the OPA National season over....and looking over the teams and class's I was suprised in some numbers...
In know every team counts and in every class to put a series and a race on....but with the economy the way it is...it suprised me the amount of races the smaller teams made...
In class 4,5 and 6 the total of teams that showed in 7 races were 115 over the other 8 class's that had 130 shows...
7 to 10 years ago I always thought it was the little guys that kept the boat count high....and even in a bad economy....the class's I thought that would be hit the hardest is the smaller teams with little to no budgets....
I think that shows that the grass roots to Offshore will always be the little guys....even though most of them will never make it to runnning with the big boys...most of the big boys started in these grass root class's...
Some of the best racing I have ever been in was in these class's 7+ years ago....and here today the same racing exists....
Thanks OPA for keeping these classes here in our sport today and to all the teams that keep scraping pennies just to make it to the next race just to put on a show and go have fun....thus the outcome....some great deck to deck racing....
