Just thinking and drinking

The more I think about people having a need to be in a class they might not belong in.
1)Purse money?
2 ) need to win?
There can be no other reason I can see. Am I wrong?

Solution: Every team gets the same money to start a race. Take the total purse divided by the number of racers.

The need to win at any cost I havent come up with a answer yet. :party-smiley-004:

If we did this I would be willing to race class 4 in my open boat. I could run WOT trimmed out to the moon like it should be. What does anyone have to gain by sandbagging? The money is the same but the trophy is smaller. Maybe its the Jack talking. I like WOT racing.

Another idea: Sat race. Everyone races 20 miles wot in a cannon ball run. No bracket rules, just race for bragging rights. Lets see what you got. I would bet that boats in lower classes will see where they realy belong if they truely want to race. If the purse is the same then what is the problem.

The two biggest reasons, whether people want to say it or not!!

Solution: Every team gets the same money to start a race. Take the total purse divided by the number of racers.

Perfect!! "Tow Money"

The need to win at any cost I havent come up with a answer yet. :party-smiley-004:

This one goes waaayy beyond racing boats!! Even therapy won't work for some!!!

SMITTY!!!! Do you hear this?!?!! Guys may opt out due to equipment wear and tear, but we are probably looking at 6-7 total races--So let's race!!! Cool Thought!!

Randy, Randy, Randy, we all know the real answer to this life long question??? almost all of the class 5 guys feel real
safe at 75 mph "BORING" and it's not so tough on their equipment "valve springs every 2 races" from crashing on the limiter ??? So this bring us back to a hand full of guys from the days of yesteryear that really want to hang it out on the edge!!! Unfortunately this will hurt a class that already works and has great boat count. That being said,I guess that leaves SVL as the only real alternative to single engine as hard as you can go racing? My question to you guys is could the 10 possible boats really out there come to some agreement, commit and show at 4-5 races and a worlds ??? I know that OPA has offered a class and a purse if 5 boats would start the race for a 5 race format, monies would be broken out however the group wanted it.SBI has also made noise but I don't have any hard fact about their offer. So to all the SVL gang if you will come together on this offer I will buy one and be ready to race this 2011 season. no boxes no cranks no flywheels no BULL**** just your best game that you can MAN-UP for !!!! I mean No disrespect to anyone just ONE frustrated racer.

HighPriority 12-05-2010 04:20 PM

WOW !!! Al is that you? I have never heard a work from you before on this board. I sure hope you guys can make this SVL thing work out, and Al I sure hope I'm your driver.:lolhit:

Class 5 isnt boring with 15 boats going into turn one. Its also not boring in the ocean...when you cant run 75 lol. Hopin for more of that this year

Have to agree. The best racing I saw this year was in class 5 and 6. Class 5 racing was off the hook in my opinion. The battle between Boomer and the Smith's was awesome as well. In my opinion that is where the racing was at in 2010.

Towsontown Auto 12-05-2010 06:27 PM

Don't take me wrong, It's great seeing and racing with everyone ,but the reason there are 15 boats bunched up in the first turn is because we all spin weed-eater props and turn them with 2 Billion HP. Turn 1 get's real wild because no one can get away from an almost certain Train Wreck. I can only speak for myself but the only time I lift is when the GPS reads 75!!!!

heater63 12-06-2010 06:16 AM

Its real easy guys! just run a stock underpowered motor in you boat and you wont have to lift.Jake never lifts!!!!!!

Wahoo ATV 12-06-2010 08:39 AM

Good question Randy. I wondered the same thing when we ran the 30 AMT in C2. It was very hard on the equipment and we stood little chance of winning but the boat ran 108 in race trim so we ran C2.

I wondered why other Stock Boats would run in C3. I assumed it was to preserve the equipment but that didn't make sense since I assumed they would run all out in Stock Class so it must have been because they wanted a trophy more than a good race.

Is it just me? What would be better than a Saturday cannon ball run for 3 laps,no classes, no rules just run as hard as you can for 3 laps. What better testing could there be? Sat. for me is just making sure it starts and getting on the water for a little tease. If you are using it for set up you are already fu$ked. Its to late!!! Be ready before you get to the race not at it. If you are going to break testing you might as well be testing against your competition. Really what are you learning running by yourself? Top end speed? That means $hit compared to excelaration and attitude of your boat at speed against your compation.

randy, you want the honest truth, i liked the format of the orange beach race better than any race this year, race on friday, hit it hard friday night, recovery saturday, race again on sunday, that was fun!! half the fun of racing is the social atmosphere in the pits and dinner with friends, the racing is a bada$$ bonus !!!!
