Default Class 5 & 6 Rules

Can someone tell me the rules for Class 5 & 6 ? Safety equipment , speeds , number of races, etc. I used to race in New England in the early '80, I'm sure a lot has changed. Thanks, "HIGH LIFE"

High Life,
What boat did you used to race back in the early 80's?The biggest changes is that the race courses are much shorter, and that most of classes are based on speed brackets. The good thing about the bracket classes is that it allows older race boats to remain competitive. There are many old race boats currently racing on the OPA circut that do very well.It also keeps the racing closer as nobody can really check out on the rest of the fleet in any of the classes without breaking out.The fleet continues to grow particularly in Classes 5 and 6;there should be 10-15 boats in these two classes alone this season. The racing is fun and the camraderie amongst the teams is great.Hope to see you at the races this season!

BOATS MUST PASS A SAFETY AND TECHNICAL INSPECTION PRIOR TO EVERY RACE.

JACKETS(LIFELINE SUPPORTS OPA)AND HELMETS ARE REQUIRED

GPS TRACKING SYSTEM REQUIRED

CLASS 5 VEES UP TO 30FT/75MPH SINGLE INBOARD/TWIN ENGINE BOATS CURRENTLY RACING ARE GRANDFATHERED.

CLASS 6 VEES UP TO 26FT/70MPH SINGLE INBOARD.

GO TO THE OPA WEBSITE FOR INFO ON THE SCHEDULE AND OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION.

High Life,

Per the letter of the rule book your setup would put you in Class 4 with your twin engines, however my suggestion would be to call Smitty and he can advise you accordingly
