If I were to make a guess, they landed a great sponsor and what better thing to do than put all of the boats on that sponsor's property next to the Casino...
According to Google Maps, it is just under 3 miles from Sunny Isles... and just 1.5 miles to the Turnberry Country Club ...
This also allows more room for the event to grow.

Best of luck to Offshore Events !!!

Ok We know. The wet pits, cranes, will remain at the Park. We moved the Race Villiage for many reasons.

We need more room
MONEY The park is incredibly expensive and our budget thin
Gulfstream offers a huge black top lot right on US1 and its only minutes to the beach
Gulfstream is beautiful. Great resturants, bars, clubs, etc

We didnt give anything away we added value, room, and more excitement.

When the awards party is kicking the race video can be played on multiple huge outdoor TV s

Its gonna be good

Yes, they moved it to the new Sponsor location at GulfStream Park. It gives a high profile location for the pits and there's shops and resteraunts there too. It's 4.5 mile south along the beach to the wet pits.

You have to admit, we outgrew that pit area last year.... But you'll be able to leave your rig in that same lot while the boat is in the water.

Plus this year, they are adding a Florida Powerboat Club Poker Run. So off to Bimini on Friday - Poker Run and race practice on Saturday and OPA Racing on Sunday. It will be a bigger and better event than last year.

It may be close, but the traffic down there can also be horrible. and 3 miles may seem like 100 when trying to navigate a 75ft truck and trailer combination.

Sounds like GULFSTREAM PARK is supporting the race in a big way.The location on Route 1 will certainly help promote the race and generate more fans. The race village last year was really cool and it sounds like it will be bigger and better this year. The wet pit area is perfectly set up right inside HAULOVER PARK with very close inlet access. The NEWPORT BEACHSIDE HOTEL & RESORT is a great host. The beautiful South Florida weather and an ocean race course all add up to making SUNNY ISLES BEACH,FL one of the best offshore race sites period. We cant wait for this event;well worth the trip. Thanks OPA and OFFSHORE EVENTS!
