Default Battle on the Bay/ please clarify

I am under the impression that the race is back in Patchogue, but if you click on the link at the top of the OSO page it says different. The map shows a whole different story. Any info is appreciated.

Race Village & Race Site Information

We are relocating Race Village from East Islip to Brookhaven Town. This move is a result of Town of Islip reneging on our previous agreement that we worked on for 6 months. We apologize to the people and businesses of Islip town for this disapointment. Friday night in Sayville is still on! Friday August 26th join us on Main Street with vendors, race boats, and more from 4pm to 10pm! We are also glad to mention our new dry pit site, known as Race Village, is the Raymour & Flanigan Parkinglot, located in Patchogue off 112 and Sunrise Highway. This site is larger and more convenient to get to! Saturday will feature live music, vendors, a GRUCCI FIREWORK SHOW

OK, the Friday night party is in Sayville, which is in the town of Islip, but where is the actual race ? Same as past years ? Like I said earlier, the chart on the website still shows Islip and it says it was updated 8/2. I get that their is stuff going on at Raymour & Flanigans, but that's not where the race is (unless the boats are racing while on trailers). My business is in Islip and I hangout in Islip, and many people know I'm a huge fan of boat racing, so they come to me for updated info, and I don't really have it. A guy tonight approached me and asked what's the best spot to watch the races from " this " weekend. When I informed him it wasn't this weekend, he was shocked. He then told me that according to the website that the race was in Sayville. I was shocked again, so I checked, and sure enough, the website shows the race is still in Sayville. That is why I asked for a clarification.

Well, sort of. I guess that means the race is actually in Patchogue, but the map you showed for the course is Sayville, which is about 5-6 miles West of Patchogue. I see that boats are launched from Patchogue, which makes me assume that they're racing in Patchogue, ( like past years ), but the race course map makes no sense then. That looks like the course before the town of Islip threw OPA out. That can't be the course if they're running out of Patchogue, which brings me back to my first comment, all these people are coming to me for info, and I don't really have an answer. I appreciate you helping me out, but it doesn't make sense.

The map above is accurate. It's not the same location as in years past. Best way to watch would be from the water, on a boat....or if you live along the shoreline.

SO if we are launching in Patchogue and racing in Sayville which is 3 to 5 miles down the river does this mean all race boats have to allow for enough fuel to travel an extra 10 miles (5 to and 5 from) the course???????? Ans what do we do about crew and families that are coming to watch this race??? If they cant watch or be involved other than the pits it isnt worth them coming!!
