Every race that occurs in OPA is a POINTS race. I don't know where you are getting your information that says differently.

What East Tawas page are you referring to?

I was guessing there were no points as racers who want to win national titles show up at all points races they can! I myself come from past APBA racing and you would have boats that were running on one engine start the race for points then return to pits!
I don't know if the extreme boats are running on a points basis or not. If so I am surprised none would come to a points race unless they really don't care about the points? That was my basis for asking.
Bottom line is I live in Michigan and have many people asking if the BIG guys are coming. From what Tawas advertised yes but I see no evidence from OPA or here??
Here is what I read from Tawas flyer:

Offshore Power Boat Racing is coming to Tawas Bay June 22-24. The course will be a basic oval on Tawas Bay stretching from the East Tawas State Dock in East Tawas down to City Pier in Tawas City. The racing boats will range from 24' lengths all the way up to 50' and will range in speed from 75mph all the way up to over 200mph. The race boat teams will arrive Friday where there will be an entertainment tent with music and refreshments at Harbor Park in East Tawas. Hours will be 5pm-9pm. Saturday the 23rd is test and tune day on Tawas Bay. Again on Saturday the entertainment tent will be up and running in Harbor Park-Hours 12pm-10pm. The power boats will be on display for all to look at from 5pm-10pm on Newman Street. Sunday the 24th is race day. Races begin approximately at noon, where you can sit along the shoreline and watch the power and fun. Family activities will be provided through out the weekend.

Notice the reference to 50' and 200mph boats......

Don't get me wrong, I love the fact that upper Michigan is bringing in the racers, hell it makes me want to sell the Fastech and buy another cat and join in! lol I am just trying to figure out what classes are coming.
Good luck to all who do come I hope it is the start of a great relationship with Tawas.

I did notice the reference .............. boats will range from 24' lengths all the way up to 50' and will range in speed from 75mph all the way up to over 200mph.

Let's assume this may be what you are referencing: http://www.tawas.com/Wedding.html?ei...ewid=0&vmode=e

And mind you OPA speeds start at 70 mph which had a fleet of 10 boats in class in Ocean City

Also please keep in mind, not every team that races is on this forum. Also, I will never answer/reply for another race team or organization unless specifically requested to do so.

Thanks for the responses, like I said from my old APBA days I knew if it were a national points race everyone was coming...if divisional not so much!
I am not familiar with your system so I was just trying to get a grasp on who shows up when and what if any differences there are in your events.

In anycase I will be there to support any and all racing teams that make the trip! Everyone have a safe trip up. I am familiar with area if anyone has travel questions.

We are doing our best, but...
The boat just got out of the shop, but Eric and I have not tested it yet. Electrical nightmares!!
Boat is three and half hours away and Eric has final exams. (Wife says we can't test till after exams.)
Trailer had an axle failure 3 weeks ago and we are still waiting for parts.
New team shirts are being delayed, problem with the art work.
New team scooter is delayed, parts came in damaged and now waiting for new parts.
Eric is graduating from High school on friday, June 22 at 6:00 p.m. and family will be in from Florida.
If we can get it togather, then we probably make it on sunday morning before the race. I hope.

606 Lock'd Up Bandit won't be able to make this one.
Jeff, (Country Service) if it helps, you can borrow my trailer.
