Hey class 6 ers, Since I have been out of the loop for a while, give me a quick opinion, Building a fuel tank for a class6/5 boat, How big would you make it, I always figure on a mile per gallon, so whats the average length you all run, and / or what size is in the Joker's. You know I hate running out of fuel ( Patchogue one year ). But don't need extra unused space either, as it effects the amount of structure bulkheads etc. I can add for strength. Thanks, J

If I remember right Jim only had a 40 or 45 gallon tank installed in our Joker. Smith Brothers I believe has a bigger tank than us.

what the longest length of the course at Key West? I would think you would want enough for the longest race of the season and maybe 10% safety factor?

KW is an SBI race not an OPA race

Class 6 averages 32 miles per race
Example: 7 laps on a 4.55 mile course. Course size varies at each race site, but it is consistent for Class 6 to race approximately 32 miles per event.

Plus usually a full pace lap at race speed.

And don't forget the mill ... when those pillows break free it can be a while until it's reset

Or the distance from the wet pits to the race course

We usually put 143.5 gallons in so we don't run out.
