Lake George Performance Weekend
#1
Hey guys,
This is an invite only event, but every boat in OPA is invited to attend, wed really love to have ya.
We call this a "demo race". We setup a course at the southern end of our lake, and invite racers and pleasure boaters to come run there stuff. We have 3 classes, 65,75 and 85. There IS no breakout. Speeds of a 120 have been recorded in the 85 class
The deal is this. It is NOT a race, but it looks like one. You guys on the course make it look like a real race, all is well. If one boat in particular starts to really pull away, we red flag the heat. If one boat really starts to fall behind, we red flag the heat. Want to run your boat really hard? Great, move up a class. Each class has two heats in a day, and the event takes place on Saturday May 18th, boat parade and kickin party Friday the 17th.
Last year we had an average of 5-8 boats per class, wed love to up that a bit
Pretty much, lead a lap or two, back out of it. Or, start from behind and work your way forward.
