Joker Powerboats/CRC 611 Prerace Report
The Joker Powerboats/CRC 611 team heads to Atlantic City this weekend for the 3rd stop of the Amsoil Offshore Powerboat Racing Series. This event marks the first ocean race of the season. “You never know what you are going to get when you race in the ocean,” said driver Pete Smith. “It could be perfectly flat, extremely rough or somewhere in between, totally unpredictable.” The team is looking for a good run in Atlantic City after a disappointing season opener in Lake Hopatcong, NJ. “We had a very good race going in the first event of the season, until a component of the ignition system failed,” said throttleman Rich Smith. “It was a brand new part out of the box. Up to that point, we had a great run going, running in second place.”
The Atlantic City Grand Prix is being hosted by the Golden Nugget as part of Atlantic City’s Festival of Speed. The team looks forward to meeting the fans as well as reconnecting with friends and family from their home state of New Jersey.
The team will arrive in Atlantic City Friday afternoon. Saturday afternoon will see the competitors testing in the ocean with the races being held on Sunday.
