Smith Brothers Joins with Autotether to Promote Engine Cut-Off Device Safety

Smith Brothers Offshore Racing Team has partnered with Autotether to promote the use of engine cut off devices. Commonly known as a “kill switch,” an engine cut-off device is designed to shut off the engine of a boat should the driver fall overboard.

Autotether is a wireless engine cut off system that instantly cuts the boat’s engine when the operator falls overboard and can sound an alarm if any of up to three additional passengers fall overboard. Autotether combines safety and convenience. The system is completely non-intrusive and allows complete freedom of movement on board, eliminating the need to be physically tied to the boat’s kill switch through a lanyard. Additionally, the Autotether requires no installation. It simply connects to your boat’s existing kill switch, just like your existing wired lanyard. It’s that easy. Thousands of Autotether’s have been deployed worldwide across both commercial and recreational boating applications

“An engine cut off device is an essential part of safe boating,” said team member Rich Smith. “We wouldn’t start a race without ours and we never leave the dock in our pleasure boat without hooking up. The benefit of the Autotether system is that there is no lanyard to restrict your movement or get tangled in. It is wireless. Now there is no excuse for not wearing one.”

You can learn more about the Autotether system at their web site www.autotether.com.

As a bonus to our fans, anyone purchasing an Autotether system on their website will receive a 10% discount when they use the coupon code SMITHOSR at checkout!

Cool but what happens when you drop someone off and forget it’s in Their pocket, and the engines shut off, as you drift away...? Lol I’m sure they have thought of it and have an over ride but what if they didn’t!?

Only the driver's sensor controls the engine. The others only set off an alarm if they go into the water.
