Instead of saying "cake," cake becomes "sweet bread" down in the South.
Instead of saying "turn off the lights," Southerners say "cut off the lights."
"Soda pop" becomes "drank" in the South.
"Sweet potato pie" becomes "tater bread."
"You all" become "y'all," but drag the word out for a few seconds.
"Hello" becomes "Yello" when answering the phone.
"Lollipop" becomes a "sucker."
A "bag" of groceries becomes a "sack."
A "wash cloth" becomes a "rag."
A "movie theater" becomes a "picture show."
"Carry" becomes "tote" in the South.
"I guess" becomes "I reckon" in the South.
Instead of saying "family," Southerners say "Mom n 'em."
"I'm going to the store" becomes "i'm fixin to go to the market" in the South
Instead of "who's car will we be taking," it become "who's car we goin in.
"No" becomes "naw" in the South.
"Burger King" become "Burger Kang" in the South.
The "shopping cart" at the grocery store becomes a "buggy"
You aren't about to do something - you're fixing' to do something.
"License plate" becomes a "tag."
