Luckily we smelled the fumes in the cabin before he started the boat and before his family got to town and one of his kids fell asleep down there or It might of ended up like that. We need to make sure our fume detectors are working, you never know about gasoline fumes, they can combust even without a flame.

wiggle what year boat was the one leaking fuel. Are you saying they cut a big hole in the floor at the Lake? Where was the hole? How much fuel was in bilges? I'm asking because I'm thinking of buying a used 42' OL.

It was brand new with 850's. The OL technicians flew in overnight. were cutting a 6-8" round hole in floor in cabin where fuel bladder is. the hookup hose was so lose you could unscrew it by hand . had about 1 gallon 0r 2 in bottom. They then transported to Bristol to fix permanently. after it left Loto. . last time i talked to owner he said they were trying to bring boat back to him he said" I dont want a used new boat for 745,000k. Do you blame him. He was just thankful we smelled it and kept him and his family off it until it was fixed. This gut is a great guy and has plenty of cash, has 3 private jets. and a large food chain, but is really down to earth and we look forward to seeing him. bought a condo right next to a home I'm building in Porta cima.

I found out who the owner is, it is James W. he ownes the Jimmy Johns Sub shop chain. I meet him a year ago at our local lake, and you are correct he is a real nice guy. Hopefully they fixed the problem.

You are exactly right powerquest. Met him at dog Days with his friends when he first got the boat. I felt sorry for him that they could'nt enjoy it. He flew his wife and kids in on one of his three private jets. We had alot of fun and he ask me to help out on fixing his boat on Saturday. we all worked all day to help him. He still calls me now and thanks us, very wealthy and down to eaarth guy.

Thanks Wiggler for info. i don't understand why OL doesn't make it so the fuel lines and connections are accessible. My 37' is the same way you can't access the connection points to the tanks.Just doesn't make sense it is so importanat to be able to inspect those hoses and connections. No problems with mine but i am worried about a 42 when i step up. My 38 Formula was easy to access.
