1998 37 complete remake
3 Attachment(s)
After almost 2 years I got the boat out on the water. Was
a triple engine boat (white and purple with yellow drives) Three 725hp motors pushed it about 110mph. GPS speedo was not working, but twin 925hp motors turned 34" props thru 1.26 B-max brives 5300rpms. Theres still more to go Friends at the marina got some pictures will try to post them. |

Re: 1998 37 complete remake
BB725, the boat turned out great. Post more pic's if you get a chance. I would like to see how the interior and cabin ended up looking like. I was not sure when I seen the concept of how it was going to look, but from what I can see it turn out SWEET.

Re: 1998 37 complete remake
108 mph hitting hard on the limiters need more prop. Trying
36" 4 blades and 34" 5 blades next week. |

Was your boat the one that made it in Powerboat when they did the story on Dean? Red, white and blue I think.

My 37 was being painted at the same time that his was at the paint shop. From the way that boat looked 2 years ago it sure turned out nice. Rigging looks impeccable.

Re: 1998 37 complete remake
The boat came with HP500s, hurt one really bad at a poker run. The triple set up was 598ci 725hp hydraulic cam pump gas ran XZ drives without any problems for three years. Used the blocks destroked to 565 ci (the wipples can't handle any more ci) CMI build the headers for these motors pulled over 1000hp on the dyno detuned them to 925hp.
Have B-max poker run drives, currently putting IMCO lowers to get the props deeper in the water currently at almost 30% slip. |
Re: 1998 37 complete remake
Have you tried turning the props the other direction?

Powerquest 26 Legend with purple, gray and yellow graphics. We made it about 200 yards from the dock when it came down. So much for keeping it nice and dry before I put it away.

Re: 1998 37 complete remake
I have only taken the boat out on Lake Winnebago in Wisconsin, will be out this weekend going to be cool (55-60) but sunny

Re: 1998 37 complete remake
Boating season just ended for me. Ran the boat this pm and the starboard motor blew a head gasket. I was only running 5000 rpm when the gasket blew. Pulling the motor tonight will find out what happen. I guess there's always next year

Re: 1998 37 complete remake
Sorry to here that, mine end 4 weeks ago when I hit some thing under the water and took a drive out.
|
Re: 1998 37 complete remake
Copper head gasket blew out, Mercury is switching the 525s from copper to steel, I guess I'm doing the same
|
Re: 1998 37 complete remake
Copper is old tech. Cometic is the way to go.
Merc is using cometic gaskets also. |

Re: 1998 37 complete remake
Are you Triple B? I think I ran with you in Oshkosh poker run a few years back. I remember Hot Rod with a lap top tuning your motors at the Pioneer gas dock??

I had a 35 Fountain black and white named "Downtown" Got a new 42 this year. Anyone know where 'ole Hot Roddy boy is? Or is he just gone with the wind.... |
Re: 1998 37 complete remake
The only poker run I have broken down in is Oshkosh (I've done the Key West run 3 times and alot of runs on Lake Michigan) packed the lower units with mud, blew a motor(hp500) and when you saw me on the north side of Winnebago, I was first there but blew the water line between drive and motor and filled the bilge. Rod has some legal issues he is currently dealing with right now. (taxes and customers) Just made a court appearance a couple of weeks ago plead not guilty. Performance Marine is no more, employees now run Oshkosh Marine out of the same facility
