Golddigger

Its at national liquidators.

How did the BPMS and boat handle and perform?

Would you put mild sterling power in and racepaks or merc 1075's?

Any advice would be appreciated.

RunninHotRacing163.1 11-07-2010 03:57 PM

Jeremy dial up Bill or scarab J and ask him :drink::drink::drink::drink::drink:

OL40SVX 11-07-2010 04:17 PM

A pair of 1075's would put you right in the mid-upper 140's.

NEVERSATISFIED 11-08-2010 11:25 AM

Jeremy
Is this going to be your new project for next year? Did you sell the Cigarette yet?
Have a good winter, Steve

BraceYourself 11-08-2010 11:53 AM

National liquidators has it listed for 299K
I offered 250K and they countered with 265K.

Just figuring out what I'll have in it at the end of re powering.

44MTI 11-08-2010 12:05 PM

I have a set of Merc 1200/1025's fresh from Merc still in the crate the would run nice in there. They are also the race 1200's with Titanium valve train and 6800 RPMs.

When they give you such a great deal then you can just give me the keys to your RR?

pm203 11-08-2010 01:44 PM

I wouldn't touch that boat if you gave it to me.

Enough 4 Play 11-08-2010 01:53 PM

I have heard that there are issues with the handling of this boat with the BPMs as opposed to 6s. If that is incorrect that is a hell of a deal.

You offered alot in your opening bid......I would started at less than 200K, boat is a project and not a lot of buyers can pull the trigger on a 50 ft cat especially with no power.

Once you start adding in all the thing you are going to have to buy, then all the things you have not though about, you are going to be way more then if you bought a used one running.

I looked at a boat that was stripped, by the time I bought the parts, used my own labor I was over the cost of a new one from the dealer.

He can always offer less then his first quote on a counter, counter offer.

BraceYourself 11-08-2010 02:47 PM

I'm thinking about taking the power, trannies, and props out of AM II and put them in GD.

I don't like the fact that it was the first cat from OL. I feel like it was the R+D test mule. There have been many rumors about this boat. Maybe they are true, maybe not. But, why gamble with the unknown? Is it really worth it?

GK 11-08-2010 03:14 PM

I talked to Sweers on the boat, keep in mind GD is not on a tilt trailer. It has a 12' beam. I would not want to pull a 50' footer with a 12' beam without a tilt. Add another $100K for a trailer.

It can be rather difficult to sell a boat with no power or drives unless the buyer is paying cash and has his own power and drives. Banks do not like loaning money on boats w/o power let alone no power or drives.

WildThing47 11-08-2010 04:25 PM

Looked at this....the price is deceiving, there's 400k, if not a bit more.. in a rigging for that setup to get it right...not to mention, to be honest, I've never heard a straight story on GD ever...several owners, apparently it never ran well......needs turbines and BPMs, Or ASD...good luck on it, I tend to agree, I would've offered 175..with the history on this boat, they'll never move it, not in this economy..much like a few of the first 50 nortech cats where they had problems with the xdims...

GL either way..

AGREED...

DollaBill 11-08-2010 04:29 PM

Run...................... why would you want that boat? good luck on resale. That boat will be sitting in the yard next to Copelands Phenom boat at some point (ouch)

WildThing47 11-08-2010 04:35 PM

Just buy the old JBS Mystic race hull...forsale..they fixed a few things, atleast that boat has a history of running it's ass off..

Mystic 11-10-2010 04:28 PM

The old JBS boat has a new home in Trinidad.

richanton 11-10-2010 05:47 PM

I like Golddigger, talk about an eyecatcher! I wouldn't get too hung up on the rumor, IF the boat has problems I'm sure it isn't anything that can't be corrected. The bottom line is, somebody spent $1m+ on that puppy not that long ago.

140 for a 50 footer on 1075s is respectable in my book. I say if you like it buy it. I do agree that it never hurts to lowball.

I thought you had the 1200/1075/1025 package.

I would be asking a lot of questions of the people who owned that boat previously before I went within a mile of it. It is a stunning eye catcher but it obviously had/has some very serious issues with the bottom because no sooner than the thing was sold new by LCM it was right back there back up for sale - rinse repeat with the next owner as well.

We went to the Lousiville boat show one year back when LCM was in its heyday and they had Golddigger on display. It had already been sold and returned to LCM by that time and had already aquired a reputation for having a bad hull. The hull of that boat looked like a block of cheese as they had obviously tweaked it a number of times to try to get it to run right - yet they had not yet fixed the hull aesthetically. The bass fisherman and tire kickers were in awe of GD while we performance boaters were just stunned that they would put a boat on display with a hull looking like a block of carved on cheese.

I don't know if they ever got the hull right but at that point you could tell the hull was an experiement in progress.

richanton 11-13-2010 09:30 AM

I wonder if OL would be willing to get involved and help correct the hull, in an effort to save the reputation of their big cat. I don't think it would look good if Golddigger ended up being repaired by Skater.

OL40SVX 11-13-2010 05:12 PM

GD has only been owned by one person and thats it!! The cats run freaking awesome for anyone that has actually run one!

yeah and he has an awesome SKATER.....:D

Jeremy,

Save your money, enjoy AM2 and if you want a cat buy ICBM's 35 Motion.....that is a great looking boat for cheap money!

just playing devils advocate:

not a personal attack against you or OL...but your views might be a little bias seeing as tho you work for OL...you defiantly might be right about OL cats running good. I am just saying.

i.e. It would be like me working for BMW and giving my review about how they drive...

For your information they could of hammered on the boat if they wanted to and run right next to that Statement cat if desired. They were on a nice fast cruise on down to KW. The boat is fast!! Why do you have such a problem with Outerlimits again?

That video doesn't show the OL passing them in open ocean and then pulling back to a steady 135 mph cruise. But it doesn't matter, we were just out there running the boat and enjoying the poker run. Nothing to prove, or we would have run it with some boost. The boat was and is set up at 1500 each with 7 psi boost, not even close to its potential, but it was the first long distance run on the motors and we thought we would give them a proper break in.
