No, but it is recommended, it is good winter project. The 600's are pushing the drives to the max of their application, so i try everything to prolong the lifespan. And the 6 blades just stress the XR's even more.......

Depends on how you are with the sticks, if you have a heavy hand yes, if you are experienced at throttling, not backing out heavily, but really feeling the boat and lightly pulling when she skips you can make them live...
BEEF up the drives...if you even have to ask that question

I dont care how good you are, add a couple of cocktails, a hot chick or two, and running hard with another boat in semi rough conditions = time for a new XR or two with those engines and 6 blade props!

I wouldn't run them w/o beefing up those XR's (especially if they have some hours on them), but that's just me.

It only takes one good hard 'bite' at WOT and an upper gear is missing a tooth or a shaft is twisted!

Then why are you even asking the question about running these? You will grenade a drive and be looking at just that, a project. Is the extra speed worth it?

Again, I wouldn't suggest running those 6 blades on stock XR's with some hours on them, especially behind those supercharged engines... those drives wont last long if you push the boat at all!!!

Hey, listen, you don't live that far from me and i'm in New jersey all the time visiting clients. I have a local guy that is reputable, trustworthy and reasonable. If you are interested, he can go over your drives this winter and quote you some options to strengthen your drives up.
