If u ever tried to make real power you would understand all these engines are on the edge. Those motors made a lot of power. Pump gas motors are all having problems who knows quality of fuel.

ive built alot of engines that make "real power" on pump gas and you cannot just slap a bunch of parts together and hope it works like these guys did. From my own experience you cannot use that intake manifold on anything over a 700hp engine,,,,the fuel distribution starts to gravitate towards the front real bad,,any true big hp aplications that live all have individual port injectors there is a reason mercury does it...ang again not knocking outerlimits they build awesome boats,,,,just the engine builder has some growing pains to go through

Beautiful boat. Just wondering, if someone is going to fork out the bucks to have one of those beauties built why would they screw around with custom power and not go with a set of bullet proof, warrantied Merc Turbos? Are they that much cheaper than Merc's to justify the headaches?

I would say that there is no such thing as bullet proof 1350 hp. Also, many like blower motors and guys like Eddie Young build them with warranty + not everybody wants to be a part of the Merc monopoly, myself included. There are good alternatives out there, and the Merc stuff is not cheap. That being said, all in all, if the engine builder can't do it right, they shouldn't do it at all.

I have had big power Eddie Young Motors and have had nothing but great results. Right now I have a pair of Teaque Quadrotors that Eddie reworked for me and now they run like a bat out of Hell. There are alternatives out that there for big reliable power with warranty besides Mercury and YPM is one of them.
