ive built alot of engines that make "real power" on pump gas and you cannot just slap a bunch of parts together and hope it works like these guys did. From my own experience you cannot use that intake manifold on anything over a 700hp engine,,,,the fuel distribution starts to gravitate towards the front real bad,,any true big hp aplications that live all have individual port injectors there is a reason mercury does it...ang again not knocking outerlimits they build awesome boats,,,,just the engine builder has some growing pains to go through
Hmmm, 700hp with that intake manifold? Are you kidding me? Do you have any idea what your talking about? Do you know how many people out there are making far more than 700HP with that intake manifold? Really? Do some homework with some real testing equipment. That is truly one of the stupidest statements to date. Funny I've made 1600hp with that same intake manifold and air fuels are within 1.0 air fuel. Have you seen how bad the distribution is on a 1075? Do you know how much calibration time is in the cylinder trimming and the deflector plates? Yet, still a large variance at different RPM's and loads? Port is nice, but by no means the answer. Especially if the PCM doesn't have capicity to adjust, and you don't have the 8 air fuels to read. In that case, port is many times worse.
Both motors did not fail and nobody "slapped" a bunch stuff together. Don't even get me started on that. I can slap on the shelf parts together and build 1000hp that will pass any endurance test Mercury ever passes. 700hp, thats nearly laughable. At 700hp, there's no air volume to even fill up the intake. Funny this 1335hp motor set seems to not have a problem running 177mph? And yes, they use the boat all the time? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CdxAiUIvuPY There's literally thousands of people doing something similar.

Got a few unpaid boat parts from years ago up there also. They do have it all....:angry-smiley-038:
