Not taking anything away from this particular boat but it has been for sale for years and those 1075's are not exactly 500 EFI's when it comes to reliability/maintenance.

50+ ft vee bottoms aren't for everyone (from towing to docks to big power) they are a serious commitment to boating and your wallet. That being said, the buyer of this machine might want newer power/newer paint-interior etc and when you add those improvements to a 11 year old hull you quickly get upside down on the project and for that cost you can simply buy a newer boat.

First, this boat should say a lot about Mike Fiore. This is an 11 year old boat that if it was painted with a modern scheme and had a new interior, you would never know its not a "new" model. He offered a boat 11 years ago with lines that turned out to be timeless. Pretty cool. As far as the $235K price goes, its been for sale forever, it doesn't appear to be in great shape (via the pics) and everything in it/on it is 11 years old. Cables, wiring, front thruster motor, oil lines, fuel lines. There are a ton of moving parts, all of which have a life-cycle. Can the motors can be updated and tuned to be much more reliable with less upkeep? I'm sure you guys know more about that than me, but I think I read a thread by a well known engine builder saying he could get 150+ hours out of a 1075. Even if it costs some power, who cares? I think no more than $180K on a great day. If it could be had for $160K, it would be worth buying and modernizing.

I agree with everything you guys are saying but what I am saying is that if you are a buyer for a late model 50ft vee bottom right now, your options are very very limited unless you want to spend $500k+ on a 1100 or 1350 turbo boat.

And I'm still waiting for someone to show me another 50-52 foot boat that runs over 110mph for less then $235k....

Nortech 50V Artemis.....:evilb:

Plenty of triple engine 50 Hustlers also but they were not as fast due to smaller power.

To get a 50 Hustler to run 115+ its gonna take 3x 1100 hp motors. Thats another motor/drive/tranny/misc to maintain
I don't think the boat is out of line but I have not seen it either. In General a nicely equipped 2005 50' Outerlimits with running 1075's I would say is worth 200k plus.
As far as getting upside down... If your worried about not being upside down or loosing money your in the wrong sport. Power Boats cost alot of money to maintain let alone upgrade.
If you judge what you do to your boat by what the value increase will be, give up now id say. I do what I do to my boat because I like to and because its fun doing it and using it. And I love to have fun!!
If your looking to make money invest somewhere else like the stock market not a boat.

I agree with your statement 100%......I would have zero interest in anything past a pair of Merc 700's in any boat.

It's not about making money, it is more like "limiting the damage!" :D
