I'm curious about the ride and performance comparisons of these 3. The 37 was the original design. It has a good reputation and decent ride. The 39 then obsoleted the 37 and the 36 is the latest and greatest. I'm curious how the ride and performance compares for those with experience in all 3. Were there any quirks with any of them?
the 37's seem to ride higher in the front (more potential to porpoise I suppose) where the 36 seems to run flat. The 37 was a heavier boat compared to the 39 and 36, so what affect does that have?
I wonder the same thing with the 42 Legacy and 44 SL. (I'm not quite sure where the 41SL fits in between those.)
Thanks,
Mark

I think the 41 replaced the 39. The 41 has a 2+' bustle. I'm Not quit sure where the 36 comes in.
Never road in a 37, I'm pretty happy with my 39, it rides well and is fast, it is sensitive to how much tab you use in rougher water or higher speed, to much and I can feel the bow pushing, to little is a little bouncy at higher speeds.
I've been around a 41 several times and the boat rides really flat front to back (like all the new sl and sv bottom boats). Ive been told it rides very good and less touchy to the tabs.
As far as the 42 vs the 44sl.
The 42's seem to ride with the bow up like all the previous boat models but the SL and SV boats have there own level attitude when running. I've been boating with 41's, 43's, 44's they all ride really flat.

It's certainly shorter, and the decks of the boats slope down quick now and have much flatter decks. Apache-like styling.
I also wondered if the 41 was a 39 stretched (the 39 had a platform already, the 41 bustle seems to be lower to help with stability.)
However, the attitude of the newer OL is so much different, that's why I wonder how they ride. 37 is bow up (and 42, but it's just longer so it looks less dramatic) and 44SL and 36SL are much more level.
The reviews of the SL boats seem promising, and it's stated that they ride well. However, I also wonder why, if the 42 was a beast, why not offer it anymore? Is the new hull so much better, it obsoleted the last hull?
The 37 and 42 decks are certainly long gone.....I personally like that headroom.

Yes the old twin or quad step design is gone from OL they now do a 5 step bottom. They do ride on the water much flatter than the twin or quad step bottoms, The speeds they turn out now are getting more and more impressive. I would say a new 43/44 with 1100's would run about 5-10 mph faster than a 42 with 1075's did. Some of it is going to be bottom design, some will be weight, some maybe in the lower deck heights but all together I'd say about 5-10 mph faster.
Yes then new boats have a bustle... But that I believe is part of making the boat ride flatter bow to stern in the water. Centralize the weight.
I personally do like the higher deck heights also. I dont use my cabin like i used to but with it higher it makes it a very use full area unlike alot of other boats

From what I've heard a good running 42 with 1075 will run about 125 ish on a good run.
A new 44 with 1100's will run 132 ish. That is one of my examples of 5-10 mph faster with the new boat
The other is the new 41 with 700's and #6 will run about 5-6 mph faster than my 39 boat with nxt's

I guess I'm more curious about how they ride at 65-85 mph where you'd cruise in 2-4'ers. Is the 39 a lot better than the 37 there? Is the 42 a lot better than the 39? How does the 36 compare with any of them? I'd assume the worst ride just due to the shortest and lightest, but maybe not.
If I ever purchased a 42, I' be one to go for the triple 525's over big power. I want to go boating, not pay a mechanic
