Transom replacement

So I’m redoing the transom on my side by side 37 Stiletto and want/need some advice. I’ve heard I should move motors up 10” for better weight distribution. But can’t find any real world results of anyone doing it. Any advice would be appreciated. Can also text me at 513-266-051six. Thanks.

Call the factory after key west, they have all the rigging info on all the 37’s. Is it a bravo boat or 5’s?

Bravo

How old is the boat that it needs a new transom? Or are you doing this for another reason?

It’s a 2000. It was severely neglected for years before I bought it.

Might not be that simple . The entire bulkhead will need to be moved forward and your cockpit will be smaller keep that in mind. But I would def call the factory

I had a side-by-side 37, and when I went with bigger power, we moved the motors forward roughly 7-8". The side-by-side 37's have plenty of room to move the motors forward, so no need to move the bulkhead. The only thing I HAD to do was modify the sunpad because I had whipple chargers, and the further forward the motors are moved, the closer they get to the sunpad. Now, there will be a few other mods like extending things like the drive shafts etc. but that is about it. It's certainly not as simple it sounds, but doable without modifying the boats structure, especially since the boat is going to be apart anyway.

Eddie Young did all the work and Mike Fiore gave him direction on exact location of the motors. It ended up working great for my setup and supposedly eliminated a lot of the porpoising some 37's are known for.

As suggested, call the factory for advice. Eddie Young might be able to give you some direction as well.

Good luck.
