these have not been turning over easily. I looked & this boat & with limited amenities/ blower motor I just felt I could get more boat for the money. It has been for sale for over a year, probably 18months. I still love this boat though. I also remember it had the Cats Eyes on the side, not anymore? |
Re: 28 on Ebay
who put the blower motor together ?

If you dont like the graphics... sand and buff. http://www.boattraderonline.com/deal....html?82073746 For this Pier57 boat to sell, its gonna have to go for 70-75k, not 90-100k. |

Re: 28 on Ebay
Maybe so bruce, but just cuz it does 90, means its gotta be used at 90.
That drive may not last too long either. But if you ran the boat at 60 all day, it would last plenty long. Its a nice boat, but I don't think its worth $90,000. Damn bruce, i could buy yours and repower and have 40+ to spare. Lukie's boat is a better buy imo also. that 5man set up is sweet, and you can probably stick a few couples together in each. :drink: |
Re: 28 on Ebay
You'de have alot more than 40 plus to spare if you bought mine.
40k with fresh power takes mine. i agree that a 3 man setup is not very desireable for a pleasure boat. Boat it makes a great bay bomber. |

Not everyone feels comfortable strapped in a bolster going over 90 with the wind in your face and not a lot of experience in the wheel. It takes a special person to maintain a certain level of safety on speed and I for one feel that speed should be respected at any level of performance boating. In the 38 Cig race boat we can go 100 and it feels like we are a stand still compared to 100 in my boat. All in all we all like fast boats, but dont forget that their is always someone else out their that can smoke you silly any given day. With that said we are as fast as the next boat passing us and leaving us with a spray of mist and a smell of fuel in the wake. Yes I would prefer the Pantera with the 3A speedmaster and the funny graphics just because I have seen the boat up close and it is gorgeous in every way except the size of Pantera head. |

Re: 28 on Ebay
you got that right, miamiboys, its hard to imagine what you guys go through in a race at those speeds, hats off to your team, i have never gotten use to that feeling above 80mph, taken it into the 90-94 range only a couple of times, don't like it, very nervous, against a 40 hustler twin supercharged 900hp and another time a 36 cig gladiator twin staggered 750hp zuls, theres so much going on at that speed, an incredible rush, a frenzy, but i will admit scary, lots of blood pressure and adrenaline, after i pull the sticks back, I feel rattled, glad to be at cruise speed again, i think i am getting too old, your so right about respect, when i bought the boat, carl the oringinal owner shook my hand, his last words to me, he said, RESPECT IT be careful nick, PEOPLE CAN DIE IN THAT BOAT, i never will forget them.

I can't wait to get a blower mtr :D :D :D :D

Re: 28 on Ebay
They are asking 95k in the classifieds.
I still think that is alot of $$$. Boats like this just aren't commanding $. Ask Jody165 or SemperFi... both of their boats were the sh!t. And they had to give them away. And yes, my 24 at 75 on gps / 78-79 on speedo was a rush, and a bit hairy, but like i said, you don't have to run it that way. So the speed shouldn't scare you. And if you didn't want an engine like that, so you can't go fast, what would you have to do?? Sell the blower motor and put in a 525? You'd probably lose money on that deal. I inquired about this boat a few yrs back and they had no desire about selling w/o the motor. I thought for 45 w/ no motor would be a good deal, or even 65 w/ the motor. I could have bought alberts boat for, what... mid 30s?? Could have bought Jody165 38 larry smith w/ twin blower motors. Boat did well over 100mph w/ 6pack bolsters for 75-80. So this... at 90+ to me seems overpriced. just my $0.02. Lets see how this auction goes. |

Re: 28 on Ebay
i think albert and bruce boat are mid 90 models. if the boat really has 3 hours with a high dollar 800 + blower motor, xr drive ,hydraulic steering, nice aluminum trailer, and is a 2003 possibly never titled it certainly should be worth $ 90,000. i think the racier cockpit and limited cabin are what hold it back to the average buyer with a family.there must be atleast $ 50,000 in the running gear alone. my wife would not be happy with a boat with that racier cockpit and no sunpad.it is a beautiful boat in my opinion and would make a great boat to go for a 3 hour blast in :drink: .

Re: 28 on Ebay
I would think they would sell it faster w/o the power. probably worth 50k. If the boat was a full pleasure setup, it would be worth 90k, maybe more. But not everyone wants a big azz blower motor and a race setup. I think the buyers market would be stronger if you separate them.

Would you say Memoli's boat sold fairly easily?? You guys gotta admit, buying a boat w/ big power(that you have no real history of) is a bit unnerving. Building you own power you know what you've got... I was told once by a very wise man, to look for a boat w/o drivetrain... and put your own in it. When you sell take it out and to the next boat. Kinda makes sense, just not so easy finding boats w/o power. |
Re: 28 on Ebay
By the way, Merola's deal fell through. The seller stiffed him. After he sent $1,000.00 deposit
|
Re: 28 on Ebay
I believe that is a Grimes motor built in North Atlanta were the original owner was from.

Tomcei has memoli's boat now. I really like luke's boat... if i knew I wouldn't need it for family use... it'd be just right. |
Re: 28 on Ebay
That makes perfect sense. My boat would have sold a year ago if it were a pleasure setup
|
Re: 28 on Ebay
I think any single engine pantera, pleasure setup, in half decent shape could sell for 40.
I unfortunately passed up a 1995 28 w/ blower motor(500hp) that was in Cali... it was asking 45k. Had a vote of confidence from Jo that it was a great boat and superclean. I was opposed cuz it would have cost 3000 to get it here. But I probably would have broke even on the sell... not like I did on the 24. :( |
Re: 28 on Ebay
